Mushroom corals: can they sting?

So I have a question about mushroom coral aggression.
I have a small colony of bubble mushroom corals that are growing under the branches of my horn coral.
I noticed that a few of te mushroom have inflated and started to touch the horn coral branch. I was pretty sure the horn was going to nuke them since the are pretty aggressive corals.
However, that never happened. The mushroom continued to inflate, but now the two horn coral branch that were touching the shrooms have now receded and appears dead .
Anyone have similar experience? Could the mushroom coral sting a horn coral?

Yes.
Some worse than others. The elephant ear mushroom can trap fish that land on it, and since even rescuing the fish won't save the fish, I surmise there must be some sort of toxin involved, at least effective on fish.

Rhodactis are among the worst stingers of the mushroom world. They are very much like anemones and can and will eat fish. They are known to get in excess of 10" also.

You say bubble mushrooms I assume your're talking about Ricordea?
