This guy came on the live rock with two friends who didn't make it.. But he is looking very good. I thought he might have been an anemone but now I think he is a mushroom. Any thoughts?

It's a fuzzy or hairy mushroom. They will eat fish once they get big, and they can get HUGE. You can frag them or just let them split on their own to multiply and they will eat mysis just like an anemone does. Cool corals for sure. It's real name is Rhodactis, while not really a mushroom they are related to stony corals but don't have skeletons. There are many threads in this forum about them. Just do a search for Rhodactis.

I forgot to add, nice score as they are pretty expensive. LA has them from $40-$200, and they come in a range of colors. Yours appears to be orange, if it was super orange worth on the high end. They also come in a range of colors.

You need to try and kill the aiptasia in your tank they will sting whatever they touch, and can increase to plague proportions.

Thank you! That was very informative and I appreciate it! Can't wait to watch him grow, ill try and avoid keeping too small of fish. Also the aiptasia has been irradiated in my tank. The LFS had a 6 for $20 sale on peppermint shrimp, also picked up some other clean up crew members. And the tank is looking much better.

Sounds good. Glad you had success with the peppermint shrimp. I bought two and they did nothing with aiptasia. Can you post a picture of yours? There seem to be two different peppermint shrimp.

For sure. Reef imports had them, he posted a video of them hand feeding on aiptasia before he put them up for sale. Great store.
