Mushroom Rock

So I am up grading my 125 to a 210. I have this really cool piece of live rock that has been over grown with mushrooms... How do I get them off the rock? I don't want them in my new tank.

I'm new here so this is just from my experience - but I've found that I've been able to softly/slowly scrape their base off the rock and relocate them (if you want to). They shrink up but if you put them somewhere without a lot of flow they will literally move/grab onto a new location within minutes.

mushrooms have one small are of their 'foot' that attaches to the rock. just cut that off and you should be good

Careful, some shrooms can be spread by leftovers. If you cut them, rinse the rock off and kalk paste the spot to seal it up.

There is a lot of them on there... I don't use Kalk, is there any other way?

you can try an ice cube to get them to retract some, but will still need to do a bit of scraping. If you have another tank you can put the rock in for awhile, pointing a good strong powerhead at them will get them to move also.

I'll have to try that... If I did get some Kalk would that mess with my parameters?
