Mushroom splitting?

I have a beautiful purplish/bluish mushroom that seem to have split apart. Since this is my first mushroom, is this how they split into two/multiply? I actually witnessed the main mushroom pulling apart from the frag that's left. Will this small part turn into another mushroom??

Yup, thats how they spread. Some people dont like them because the reproduce so fast and if not controlled can take over a tank. I personally like them. I started with a small colony of about 5 and in about 8 months I have around 20-25 now.

Here is a pic of my mushroom. Isn't it beautiful? You can see the second part that has not yet turned into anything. It is just a purplish blob. Hoping for new mushrooms!!!

Sometimes they'll bud instead of splitting. I've got some lavenders that bud frequently. I'll see what looks like a tiny mushroom growing on the edge of a larger one, eventually it drops off and floats around till it finds a spot it likes. I've ended up with a couple of low flow corners that are packed with mushrooms that way. :)

how do i post a bigger pic? isn't it limited to 50kb? this sucks, i just learned to post pics, this being my first, and the pic isn't big enough to be appreciate, for anyone to see the true beauty of my mushroom :-(

They are neat, just be careful or you could have to many. I used to just trade whole pieces of live rock for other corals or money when they were getting to dense. Its to hard to try to chip off each individual.

Here ya go......its a little blurry.......your photo was so small that when I blew it up, it got blurry.

You need to make it larger in a PhotoShop software, then use PhotoBucket to post it.
