I recently got a frag with to mushrooms on it. they were doing fine and then when I woke up they had completely disappeared. I looked everywhere and couldn't find then. I only have a few cerith snails and bristle worms.
Where did you put them in the tank? I've had mushrooms that didn't like where I placed them and actually detach from the rock and float somewhere else. It usually takes a few days though.
After that I checked the chemicals and the salinity was super high. I lowered it slowly afterwards. I have had this happen 1 time before but dont know what caused it
If they were in a lot of flow they probably detached and were blown away, the salinity issue might have been caused by evaporation and replacing it with additional saltwater? Or when you do the water changes your water had a high salinity and you didn't notice it or your measurement reading was wrong for it.
i moved some of my rock work today and found some mushrooms attached to the live rock after they detached a few weeks back. im sure they will pop up in the future.
How is the flow in your tank? Maybe the powerheads blew sand over them and buried them? You may want to glue them to a small rock next time if thats the case. At least its a cheap coral to replace. How long has the tank been up? Since your stock is very low i'm wondering if the tank hasnt cycled fully and they just died off?
