Ok, the basis of this tank is like all reef tanks to establish a healthy and prosperous tank. Soo the background I have had this 30 gallon setup up for about a year know with 2-10 gallon reefs that where located in my room and in a entry way. After noticing it takes along time to do maintence on all three tanks I decided to put all the stuff into my FOWLR 30 gallon and make it a 30 gallon reef. So the tank in general has been up for a year and as a reef for about 2-3 weeks. Which is pretty much no time. The 30 gallon has also turned into a peaceful/get better tank with the adoption of a very small yellow tang that will be moved into my 55 or a 120 going up in my basement in the near future. And a very small GBTA that has been eating and looks very healthy.

I currently have 1 yellow goby, 2 percula clowns, 1 clarkii clown, 1 yellow tang, very small GBTA, Kenya tree's, numerous snails and crabs. This weekend I plan to get a dersera SP or maxima clam, xenia, zoos, and a few other things and setup my 12 gallon sea grass tank. I feed the tank 2 times a day with mysis, marine flake food, and some other food I create using ingredients similar to melevs. Square of marine algae for the tang, and a small piece of shrimp or silverside to the GBTA.

equipment:
It runs on a 150 watt 15K coralife HOT metal halide light. Multiple powerheads, 1 large HOB filter running carbon and Chemi pure until my new stand and sump arrive. With 40-50 pounds of liverock and a good 1-2" or sand and a weekly 10% water change everything stays fine in the tank.

Plans:
Also when my stand/sump arrive I will be attaching a beckett style skimmer or a recirculating skimmer hopefully. Also i plan to drill the tank for 1 output for the tank and 2 inputs. And then run a melevs style closed loop using a mag 9 and a SCWD. This will eliminate the need for any powerheads in the tank. Also there is a designated part of the sump that was created to hold a place for rubble rock letting water drain over it and then running into a fuge then back into the tank. But of course the skimmer will be placed before the fuge.

Some small zoos are located in the tank also.

Pardon the nuisance algae water changes are being done daily to lower nutrients. And also the micro bubbles im running a water bottle skimmer DIY and its pulling out crap until I get my urchin or such.

Microbubbles have been delt with, takeing a trip up to that pet place soon to get my coralife skimmer. Also a frag operation may start in the near future...

Its wasnt an algae bloom to say, it was more I only had 2 turbo snails and 4 other snails. and the old 30 gallon didn thave any in there so when i combined all the tanks together it was look a influx of algae so i guess in turn it was an algae bloom but it was quickly controlled due to the snails in there. I see no use to getting more snails and such just to have them die. I meen a little algae doesnt hurt anyone, and i like it like that. It gives a more natural feeling, When i was diveing i saw algae and i meen it wasnt a big deal. So as long as its confined i really dont mind.

I woke up today to OMG!!!! m thrown together skimmer had dry skimmate overflowing. Filled the collection cup and flowing out of it in this dry nasty foam... MUHAHAHAHAHHAHA Oh plans for my tank are being re done my basement is being re done soon. And one main room is going to house a 55 gallon a 30 gallon. 55 gallon will be a FOWLR tank i think and the 30 gallon this one will stay a reef. And a tv will seperate them, But I cant decide to plumb them together or seperate. I think alone because it will not risk the chance of speading things faster.

Okay, here is my revised plan after everything I found out today and other things. Here they are: I am creating a stand that will be 30" tall and have 2 inches+ on front abd back and a 4" on each side. The stand will be made out of oak and some other hard wood. I will have ability to place either a 30 gallon or a 20 gallon long under the tank. A melev style top off system will be incorporated. There will be 2 baffels in between each section of skimmer, fuge, and return pump. This will be up before the basement is finished. Once the basement is finished, I will be adding a xenia type of scrubber in a seperate 10 gallon that will be plumbed into the sump. The skimmer will be a coralife super skimmer, return pump will be a mag 7 or quiet one. The SCWD has been scratched. Im going to still go with the currect 2 drilled for input and one drilled for output. the input lines will have Loc line fitted to them with a y fitting attached to them. The output will be attacked to a 90 degrees fitting with a strainer attached. So there will be 4 outputs in total combined with 2 Seios there will be no trouble. Rock work will be re done, with 2 islands and one bridge across.

Updates: polyps have come out and all of them are open and look good. Kenya tree was moved to the bottom of the tank and is being acclimated to that light it seems to be doing really well. The GBTA was not eating but i was able to get it to eat a big chunk of raw shrimp. So that is good, but it wont come out of one of the small holes, but still getting alot of light. I added 20 pounds of tahittian moon sand for athetics, and it has done alot for the tank. My one clarkii is constantly harassing my 2 perculas, so he is going to be taken out to the nano cube soon. Yellow goby is never seen unless its feeding time then he is seen.
