Reefing On My Mind

Ok, so, I'm getting tired of the workout music I have on my Shuffle... And since all I listen to is NewsTalk and SportsTalk in the morning, I don't get exposed to much music... Just looking for some good music to exercise to... I know some of you don't go to the gym, so just think of something a bit more fast paced that makes you smile... :) You know I love to smile!!!!!!!! :D

Oh, any genre is fine... I listen to just about anything... ;)

Thats the Jack Black Group right??? I don't have any of their music... I'll be sure to download some of it though... Thanks!!!!

Tencious D is really hysterical. I wasn't expecting much when I watched that movie...but damn the music was freakin' hysterical.

Randy...I am not sure you'd like what I'd give you. I can give you some stuff, but I am just not sure you'd like it.

I was waiting to hear from you... I have a wide variety of tastes, so I'm sure I'll like something... I usually like a lot of the music on your myspace page... So take that for what its worth... ;)

So Randy I listen to ska (similar to reggae but a bit faster and more upbeat), northern soul (oldies kind of stuff), oi! (British working class punk), punk (none of that punk from today kinda stuff, old stuff!), rockabilly, psychobilly (faster/more obnoxious rockabilly that usually talks about horror stuff).

I made a list for this girl I know the other day...Ah here it is:
Rockabilly? Eddie Cochran all the way.
Psychobilly? Mad Sin, Necromantix, 12 Step Rebels
Punk? Have you listened to the Misfits lately? They're always a good band to come back to. I'm also really liking the Devotchkas lately.
Oi? the Business, Blitz, Anti-nowhere League (they rock so much!).
Ska? Hepcat, the Specials, Selecter, Symarip
Hardcore? I'm going to see Murphy's Law tonight in Nashville.
Surf? Man or Astroman is great and so are the 5, 6, 7, 8s.

You've got an iPod, right? I could burn you a DVD of a ton of stuff and you could just pick and choose what you like.

Melly~ Sounds good... I've got an iPod and a shuffle for working out... ;) And I know what ska is... lol I like Op Ivy, Mustard Plug and Skankin' Pickle... :D

I'm not so sure about Psychobilly... LMAO But I guess I won't know untill I've heard it... :)

Mustard Plug is playing here in Knoxville on August 25th or something.

Knoxville apparently has now got the biggest ska fest in the country...if you can believe it. I just looked at the Knoxville Ska Fest's myspace page and there are kids flying in from all over the freaking place...San Diego, New Jersey...all over man. I can't believe it. Not all of the bands have been announced (thank goodness) but some have and Mustard Plug is one of them. To be honest I don't really like them all THAT much...they are more ska-punk to me (but a lot of the bands are ska-punk at the ska fest).

Randy you should totally go with us all to the ska fest though...it's a blast.

I forwarded you the page on myspace already!

Melly~ Got the link... Thanks!!!!!!!! I just might go with you guys... And you don't like Mustard Plug??? Evildoer's Beware is one of my fave cd's... Though I'll admit, I don't like some of their others... lol I know its gay, but I like Less than Jake too... I can't help it, they're the one's that turned me onto ska/punk... Call it the progression... lol

Who knew Knoxville was into ska?!?!?!?! Most of the bands I know of are from either FL or MI... Of course the music I listen to, is like 6 to 10 years old, since the radio stations down here are for crap!!!!! Most of it is remnant from my days in good ole CT!!!!!! I'll have to take a look at the band list though... Not sure Ashley will come... She hates it when I play it in the car on trips... lol She puts on her headphones or goes to sleep...

Well I doubt she'd enjoy the music much then...because it's a LOT of the more ska-punk type stuff and a lot less of the type I like...more traditional ska.

Randy check out the Aggrolites. They're in my friends list...they are so freaking awesome. They play what they call dirty reggae...so good. The ska fest people were trying to get them to play but they haven't announced whether they said yes or not. Oh and check out Deal's Gone Bad. Those guys are great! They play the ska fest each year. I love them...plus Brent is friend's with one of them so we always end up hanging out with them (and all the other bands too). No we aren't cool kids...just as old as some of them (and a lot older than most of the people who go to Ska Fest). hah hah.

Melly~ After listening to some of your music, I totally need to turn you on to some Jawaiian music... LMAO Its Hawaiian Reggae... ;) Pretty much what you listen to with a bit of island flavor... :lolspin:

Island flavor could be good! I like the Jamaican ska type stuff a TON...never heard of Jawaiian.

Wow I never knew anyone else liked SKA, I thought I was the only one. I haven't listened to a lot of the bands you guys listed though. I led a very sheltered life growing up. My SKA bands consist of Five IRon Frenzy, The Insyderz, and The Orange County Supertones. If ya check em out you will find they they are all christian bands. I also like Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murpheys, New Found Glory, and a band called Flat Foot 56. I will have to check out the bands you guys listed though. I have been in withdraw here lately.

Actually saw Flatfoot 56 this past weekend in Nashville (for the third time). They're decent...but kind of a Dropkick Murphy's rip off, hah hah. Very nice guys though.

I have only seen them once and that was about 3 years ago. Only like 20 kids at the show. They are very dropkick like. I am a sucker for bagpipes though.
