My 10 gallon xenia forest

All the free nutrients in the water from xenia crash +
lack of zooplankton resulting from xenia crash +
emptying phyto cultures since no one would maintain them while I was at college +
direct sunlight from a window =
holy green.

I highly doubt the clam will be low on light. It is like 8 inches away from 52 watts of high PAR light, has direct light from a window, and plenty to eat if the phyto keeps growing.

I would prefer to stay away from flame scallops and well, I am not going to waste money on feather dusters. I have a few that grew naturally in my display tank at home, so I might try to take some of them to the dorm with me.

And as for an update on the status of things, the clam isn't clearing the water as quickly as I had expected, but it doesn't seem to be getting worse every day like it was before, so that is a step forward. Water change with water from my display tank at home on Sunday, that should not only remove a lot of phyto, but introduce fresh zooplankton to help take care of things.

Don't worry about him, people like to come and go to increase their post count. It seems to be easier to say something negative than it is to say something positive about what someone's doing with their tank. I'm sure that clam enjoys all of the excess phyto.

Add a few dwarf seahorse! Their really cheap! Or you can bottle up the water and sell it on seahorse.org or aquabid.com... I have bought a few bottles for my dwarf seahorses!! They would have a blast in your tank!! I just bought (well traded) about 60 stalks of silver tipped pulsating xenia from a guy around here for 2 heads of candy cane coral!!! I made out well!!! Good luck! Let me know if you want any of these guys, maybe we can trade some of your water for some pulsating xenia!

50% water change today. Still extremely green, but there is a little better visibility. I also brought a feather duster and some sponge with me.

Just a metter of time and your tank will be thriving with the feather duster and the snail and the clam and the sponge... Good luck!! Cant wait to see the tank when everything is back to normal!
