So I finally have it up and running. No making fun of the alge I am without a ro/di unit for now and waiting for the GB order for my clean up crew.
It is a 100 gallon tank with the top of the hood sitting just over 6ft which make viewing the tank nice and eye level. I am running a 35g sump.
This tank has been a work in progress I upgraded to it from a 25 about 8 months ago and as most know the equipment for a tank that size doesnt do much for a tank this size so i have been upgrading the equipment as I can and much of it has been from deals from local club members from the MARS club back in CA and a few here as well. Next on this list is getting some new pumps in there as well as I dont have nearly the flow I really need.
Tank
Total Volume 99.740 Gallons Length 60" Width 16" Depth 24"
Total Unit Height 74" ( So alright not quite a 100 but close enough
)
Rock / Sand
50 LBS Live Fugi Rock, 25 LBS Base Rock, 80 LBS Live Sand mixed with Crushed Coral ,5 LBS Tonga Base
The lighting is a Hamilton Metal Hilde 72" ( Modded to Fit Into Canopy) 2x250watt 10k + 1x175 Watt 20k - 2x96 Watt Power Compact Attinic for a Total of 867 Watts of lighting / 8.692 Watts Per Gallon which I hope to replace in the future with T5s for the PC lighting.
The skimmer has been upgraded thanks to Rcmike to a aquaC skimmer powered by a Rio Hyperflow 14 ( 800gph) pump.
The sump is a 35 gallon AGA .Return on the sump is a VA3300 GPH: 977
The current powerheads I have in the tank are 2 Seio 620s ( not nearly enough ) @ Flow Rate: 620gph and 2 -Aqua Clear 402 Powerhead @ 250 GPH , giving a total flow of 1740gph not including the sump return.
The chiller is a Coralife Aqua Chill 1/4Hp being fed by a Catalina Aquarium 1400 PH @ 600 GPH and comes on at 82' and runs maybe 10 mins total every hour.
Heaters I have 1 - 100 Watt Submersible Heater and 1 - 200 Watt Catalina Aquarium being controlled by the chiller to come on at 78' temp.
With the chiller/heater setup the tank varries from 79-80.9 and keeps this temp night and day.
The moon lights i built have 11- 5mm blue LEDs run off a 12v dc power supply and span a length of 46"
The next thing i really want to add to this tank though is a Ca reactor as I am tired of constantly dosing for Ca and in a dry mix form as many of you know and get VERY expensive but flow will still come first.
Just thought I would share with my new reefing family here in TN.
