My 120 dream tank build... Mods - DIY

hi,my name is eric.i'm usually on upstate ny site.i live in buffalo,ny.reef central to be exact.i like what i see,i was wondering about the program you mentioned for the sunrise/sunset.because i had the same idea where the lights would slowly come on until fully lite and after have them slowly turn down at night dusk to night.something like a dimmer switch would work or something along those lines.but i'm not that computor savvy to get a program up and running.but i thought it would be really cool to minmick the sunrise and the sunset juat like in real life.well good luck and keep me posted

Hi Eric,

I'm using the ALC module for the Reefkeeper Lite to control my LEDs. Very nice unit!

nice diy led fixture, i am just starting to play with some leds and boy they are loads of fun :) how did you end up mounting the leds onto the al bar?

I ended using Artic Silver thermal apoxy. The project was definitley fun to do and I love the outcome. My corals are doing great and look awesome.

if you was going to build a led light for an 8 foot tank would you build one fixture or two? will one controler run two fixtures?

I think the length is a matter of preference. The ALC has 2 dimming channels and without an addedmod or signal amplifier you can run 2power supplies on each channel.

Well.. lowriderr and Joe3329 stop by today. Joe3329 has a par meter and we checked my lights. At the surface we got a reading of 575 and at the substrate it read 205. Not bad considering my light fixture is 18 inches above the water surface.

is there way you could post were tou bought every thing. I go to alot of Sign shows and have a pleathra of dealer info and prices. If knew exactly what I was looking for perhaps we could get a better deal.

The LEDs I purchased directly from the manufacturer (LEDFEDY), power supplies from a wholesale dealer (signed up under my business name) and the wood and U channel from Lowes and a local metal fab place.
