brian, my best friend lives in urbana/champagne area. i think he lives in arcola. maybe i need to stretch my two wheels and get up that way. would you sell any of your frags. i also wondered what bulbs you are using. my 14k hamiltons arent really impressing me too much .

We could probably arrange something for frags. I have a lot of the milli (from the right side of the tank) in my sump. Send me a PM.

I use the 10K Ushios and have had great luck with them. I tried the 14k Hamiltons too for about 3 days then took them out. They looked too dim and my anemone did not care for them too.

How many ml of the Cal and Alk are you dosing per day? I imagine with that many giant colonies your portion must be pretty high. My 50G sps tank is up to 75ml of Cal and 75 of Alk a day. I was contemplating it would be hard to dose if I move to a big tank.

If my calibrations on the dosers are still accurate, I am about .38L / day on the 2 part dosing using the Litermeter III setup. I then dose about .28L of my Mg mix too, but at a different concentration.

I keep the pH around 8.2 and the Ca around 500.

Those are the settings for each component - so each gallon of mix lasts about 1.5 weeks.

I actually tried to slow down the growth somewhat by lowering the water temp and slimming down the fish feedings and knocking an hour off the light times. If slowed a little bit only.

Not an SPS-direct update... but I was surprised to find this in my overflow tonight. I have no idea where this came from beside growing up in my LR.

I searched a bit and found out it is a Chiton about 3-4". New to me.

Sorry for the picture quality. I had to take many of the pictures at a 45 degree angle through the glass so they are not in true focus.

I will post some full reef pictures tomorrow. Thanks!

The anemones don't seem to bother the coral? I was under the impression that the anemones would kill the SPS?

1-09-2012 Update

Preparing for a free frag day from my local reef club...cutting out a lot of frags and material to make some room. I have pruned out about a 2 gallon bucket of good frags and another 2 gallon bucket of "dead wood."
