FTS right after water change

Nice aquascape. Did you end up with 180 lbs of rock as planned?

Thanks! I didn't like it at all at first but it kind of grew on me...now I really like it. I probably have close to 225 because of all the new dry rock. I used a lot of the new stuff as base rocks except for the left side.

Whelp, I have some bad news. I introduced the hammer coral to the DT and now I have the dreaded ICH. I can't believe after doing the right thing since the beginning a coral comes and bites me in the ***. Here is my plan:

I have (2) 50g brute cans I am going to do TT with. While that's going on I'm thinking of buying a 55g tank and putting the extra bag of live sand in it and trying to get it close to acceptable by the time TT is done. I have 2 PHs I can use. I have a hydor nano and a minijet 606. Im hoping this is all acceptable being that it is temporary. Im just worried about keeping everyone in the 55 for the 11 weeks they have to be out of the main tank. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas?

My list of fish at this point is:

Yellow Tang
Powder Blue Tang
(1) Bartlett Anthias
(2) Fathead Anthias
Royal Gramma
Six Line Wrasse
Clown Fish

I had (3) Lyretail Anthias and an other clown in QT, but I'm pretty sure theyre infected now too because I was using tank water to defrost the mysis. They are going to go in the 50g brute too. Is all this OK?

After thinking about it I'm taking all the coral and inverts out and I'm going to hypo the DT. To me it seems like the least stressful on the fish and me. I can drop the salinity down and just leave the tank for 8 weeks.

The new fish are finishing up TT now and will be watched for an additional week. They have been through 3 doses of prazi and I'll put them through one more on Monday.

I bought a 16x16x6 AIO frag tank that should be here by the end of this coming week. I will keep all my current corals in there for at least 3 months to make sure that all parasites are gone.

I also received an email from live aquaria that 2 of the fish I wanted are available at the same time, so I have some fish coming Tuesday. Things are about to get real cray around here lol

Damn this is looking good! Following along

PS - where did you get the wire organizer? I have apex, wav, dos as well and have sooo many wires lol

Thank you! It's coming along quick, it just sucks I have to deal with ich in the DT now, but everything happens for a reason I guess. It will be over soon enough and the tank will be better than ever.

As for the wire organizer I got the idea/link from this thread

All the information it there

So I took all the coral out of the tank and i started to drop the salinity last night. I have it currently at 1.018 (I took 50g of water and replaced it with rodi). I was amazed that all the fish were fine, and it kind of looked like it helped them out a bit. I will do the same thing tonight with another 40-50g and see where I am. I hope i dont over shoot 1.008 with this next water change. I dont think I will, but I will see where it goes. I'll post more tonight or tomorrow.

I'm curious to know, how you know, the ich hitchhiked in on the hammer?

I've always QTed everything for 5-6 weeks, TT everything and put all fish through prazi pro for 2 weeks. I did have a battle with flukes for a while but that is gone.

Ich definitely came on the hammer. I've never had any white spots, flashing, or anything until about a week and a half after I put it in. The coral was also in a tank that was plumbed with the rest of the store. I have only bought corals from straight coral systems before this.

Hypo seems to be going well. I know it's only been a few days but the fish seem to be responding well. I haven't seen a spot in 3 days...let the countdown begin!

Found out the royal gramma died today and one of the clown fish has 2 red spots on it...this is not going well but all the other fish seem ok...eating good and very active so I'm hopeful everything makes a turn here

Really like that frag tank once your done with the hypo are you going to plumb it into your system

Hey thanks! I'm going to leave it separated to QT everything that goes in. It's not a big deal to keep up with it. I have a ato on it with a lil kalc and I think it will keep up. We'll see

Well, I lost most of my fish, I only have the Powder Blue left. I left the tank fallow for over 18 weeks and I just put the Powder Blue back in late last week. I have a Yellow, Kole and Lavender Tang going through TTM right now and if everything goes right they should be in the tank April 14th.

My stocking list moving forward is going to be:

PB Tang
Kole Tang
Yellow Tang
Lavender Tang
Lyertail Anthias x3
Fathead Anthias x2
Black Cap Basslet
Orange Stripe Prawn Goby
Clown Fish x2
Mystery Wrasse

I'm getting away from hermit crabs all together and I'm just going to do snails for the CUC. I'll also do 3 Skunk Cleaner Shrimp and Brittle Star Fish.

I'm hoping to have the tank restocked by mid summer. I'll be QTing some coral during all this, but they'll all sit out for at least 72 days just to make sure this kind of thing never happens again. I'm still really mad at myself for putting that hammer in the tank, but at the same time I will never forget it and EVERYTHING will be QTed from now on. I'll keep posting as things happen.

Sorry to hear about the problems but sounds like tank is on the mend. Let me know when your ready and can get you set up with some frags
