My 156 in-wall (rock cave) mostly SPS reef

Sadly my beautiful reef is being overtaken by an infestation of bubble algae. I have tried everything imaginable including manual removal, 20+ emerald crabs, the continuation of weekly water changes, constant phosphate and carbon in reactors, lights out for three days.....and on and on. Couple this with a goby that's spitting sand all over my coral and it makes for an irritated reef. The only thing I haven't done, and I haven't because I don't believe it to be the case, is upgrade my skimmer. I have an octopus xp2000. I have a total of 240 gallons. Perhaps since my coral are now big colonies, this is underpowered???? Any other ideas??
