My 240 gallon reef project

that is some nice equipment there. I was thinking about running one heater from the aquatronica and one from another controller, as a backup

Good news today, Chris called from midwest Custom aquariums and my tank is done. It should ship today or tomorrow.

Here is a pic of my library of books that arrived today.

And this shell is for my Live Rock curing tank. I still need to get the pond liner, hopefully I will get that tomorrow.

just curious how expensive was the shipping on the tank? I'm interested in getting a tank from them... I'm in Charlotte.

wasn't too bad IMO, $366.00. It would have been cheaper, but my truck is not functional at the moment. If you can pick it up at the terminal you would save $$. Since I am having it delivered to my home with a truck that has a lift gate, its costing me an extra 80$ or so.

geeze aren't I the slacker. The stand is built, and the tank is on it. I can't get my pics uploaded to my server for some reason so I cant any pics at the moment.

I got word today that my lifereef lf1-300 sump is done and will ship early next week. Can't wait to see it.

I picked up the lights from the LFS today. 2 Coralife Aqualight 48" Pro systems.

Instead of painting the back of the tank I decided to go with oceanvisions black backing. That was a fun little project. Trying to apply 96" of sticky material to the back of a vertical tank is not fun.

guess I dont have much else to talk about till I can get pics uploaded

Well I guess I am the only one watching my thread, no problem, at least I'll have a nice record of my project.

Here is a pic of the tank the day is was delivered. I didn't remove the paper as the tank was sitting in my garage, and ended up sitting there for a few days.

And a pic looking in from the top.

This was starting point for the stand construction. I finally got a chance to break out the router I got for christmas. We made some cuts for the lap joints. I was so excited to use the router. I'm waiting for the D-Handle to show up, got it for free with a rebate.

Well I guess thats enough pics for this post.

I'm watching your post with interest! I just won't generally chime in unless I have something more to say than...."looking good!" (which it is...)

So...keep the pics coming...

Looking good!

Did you custom order the corner overflows that way or that stock on the Midwest Custom Aquarium tanks? Was the tank boxed in a plywood container or just shipped on the pallet like that.

On the Aqualight Pro - not sure if you can return them but you may want to check out the SLS Maristar, both are 150 DE fixtures but the Maristar just puts out a lot more light and most DE bulbs look better on a mag ballast versus the electronic one on the Aqualight Pro. I'm speaking from experience since I have both units.

cant return the lights, was a special order, I will use them for awhile and see how it goes.

Yes I asked for the overflows to be placed like that, they will do what ever you want.

As for the packing. Shipped on the pallet, there was a foam barrier on all sides except the bottom, then cardboard around all sides and bottom, then shrinkwrapped and strapped to the pallet. The tank arrived safe and sound. From what I understand the trucking company works well midwest custom, and hasn't had a claim yet. I'm happy with it.

Iam with you all the way speedingredline.
From the littel you've shown us that looks like a nice tank. Is it two coner overflows or will there be a center one as well?
Ans the hole in the top bracing is that for a CL?
Where else is the tank drilled?

Did you say above that the tank only cost you $366? That's a AWESOME price if that's true. How thick is the acrylic? Have any full shots of the tank. Looking good so far. I'm gonna be watching this page for sure.

I'm watching. I'll be following your stand construction as well, please post more pics of the stand as you construct it.
