My 240 Project

Ok everything is filled up and running, 24hrs down and no leaks but I still need to make small tweaks to the overflow. Overall super happy with the tank so far, just the hardest part of the hobby now......... waiting lol

Well I will be talking with my uncle to see if he can build me one since he is a carpenter by trade, or at least have him draw up the plans and I can cut the wood and put it together.

Well ammonia is now at zero, and nitrites are down to .50ppm and nitrates are down to 20ppm. Which is down from the 1.0ppm nitrites and 40ppm nitrates from yesterday.

As of this morning ammonia 0ppm, nitrites 0ppm, and nitrates less the .5ppm. I'll give it a few more days and then start moving the fish over.

If all goes well my canopy should be done a week from today, there is still some nitrates in the tank but still looks to be less then the lowest detectable from my API test kits. But I am still holding off on moving my fish over until it goes undetectable just because just knowing my luck something would go wrong. Though I did move 2 snails and 2 hermit crabs over just as a test bed about 3 days ago, and they have all gone to work on the little algae that is on the rocks and glass. With no signs of being effected, so things are starting to look good. I will post pics soon, though nothing has changed since the last pic of the tank being filled up.

cant wait for some pictures but i think your tank should be ready for at least one fish. just to finish up the cycle.

Well for some reason the nitrates spiked again today when I check after getting home from work, so I checked the nitrites and ammonia which both are still at 0ppm so not sure why it happened, so I ended up not moving the fish over this morning like I had hoped to do. I will have to see what the nitrates are that when I get off work in about 7hrs, and we will see. For now it will only be the fish moving over since my canopy isn't complete yet, not sure how to mount the lights, so I figure I will leave the coral in the 75 gallon until my canopy is done. I can already tell my take is going to look so empty even when everything is placed inside it. Oh well guess more reason to go fish buying soon lol.

I am mostly like going to go led only since i turned my t5s off about 5months ago and everything is doing great, but if things start to go bad i might add my t5s back since this tank is taller

Tho i agree, i just have a diy t5 48" fixture, and a 96" long tank. Also at the time i turned the t5s off cause the bulbs needed to be replaced, and 6 months ago i didnt have the funds to replace them because of all the funny business my finance department was doing. So once i figure something out the t5s will be added back to the 240 some time in the future.

Yeah, the bulb cost adds up in time. I have Sol Blues on my system but secretly wish I had gone with a LED+ T5 combo unit
