My 25 gallon after moving it!!!

Keeping it Simple
Hey guys, I've had this tank up and running for a little over a year now. I'm just running pc's, but I'm definitely going to be switching to HQI soon. Anyway, the tank had to be moved due to graduating college this semester. So the trip took about 4 hours, and this is how it turned out.

I hope you all enjoy the photos, and enjoy the magnet in the pictures! Haha! Many of the corals started out as small frags. Most of the LPS have double their head count in the past 6 months so that's definitely encouraging! It's been a blast so far; thanks for all those who help with advice!

Thanks Jimmy; it was most definitely not a fun move though, but yes, thankfully everything made it out really well. :)

They are Tongan Pink Shrooms or so I've been told (but aren't mushrooms considered colonial anemones?). I originally bought one the size of a silver dollar for $1 about a year ago and now there are 14 oh them!! I've given two the size of the ones up front away. They just keep splitting like mad; I'm wondering if I can frag them out for store credit to get other corals. We'll see. Thanks for the response!

I'm moving around from school a lot so I went with a 10g... whenever I take it home, (even for christmas break) I have a piece of styrofoam that fights tight on the top and then I just toss the whole bit in the car... disaster awaits me.

Nice tank.

Thanks Rosseau and Hgbarwick! Yeah, I used to use a 10 gal. and then I decided to make the big step. Since I stayed at school during the summer this was my one and only move...thankfully. Otherwise, I would have had to move it three separate 4 hour trips. Thanks for the compliments!

I keep finding myself coming back into this thread. I like your tank a lot. Can you get us some more information on it? Such as equipment and such.

Yeah I probably should have said more in the beginning. The tank is tech. a 30 breeder by AGA, but I used plexi-glass(not a very clean job but it was my first) to divide approx. 5 gallons off for a sump/fuge. I used a pump (pretty sure it's a Mag5) and plumbing (you see that in the pics) to circulate/return the water. The equipment consists of three things: 150w heater, Mag5 pump, and a cheap piece of crap crap crappy PC light. I only use biological filtration (45 lbs of LR and 20 lbs of LS) and water changes, no mech. filter or skimmer. The light is an Oddysea (would never recommend it to anyone!), the original wattage output is supposed to be 192w, but the 10k bulb broke during shipping. Now, I'm running a 65w 50/50, and a 96w actinic, but I currently am in the process of getting a reefoptix III 150w HQI with ballast. I'm so stoked!! This system was originally just a test to see if I could come up with a system that was cheap and very simple. I only have 2 fish in there and plan to keep it that way for the light bioload. :) Maybe one day I'll be able to afford a clean looking setup with black plexi glass, black flex hose and nice cabinets. Thanks for the encouragement guys!!

Oh yeah I forgot to meantion, the light didn't even have separate switches for actinic and 10k. So, I had to take it apart and install a switch in the circuit just to get the dawn and dusk setting. The only thing that's nice about the light is it only has one plug. (perhaps you can tell, but I hate that light! :) )

Thanks Kase (I think I remember you cause there's not many here with the name Kasey) and Grundig!! Yeah, I'll definitely post some pictures when I get the 150 setup. I'll also post some pics in the next few days of the two new corals I just bought, one small zoa. colony, and one finger leather (it's sorta blue!). I'm so stoked!! :)

Hey guys, here some pictures of the new corals I bought yesterday. The first one is the blue leather in the right corner near the top of the water. Does anyone know what kind of coral it is? The LFS said it was a Kenya Tree, but I'm pretty sure it's not. Anyway, the second is a small colony of zoas that are in front of the larger colony. Let me know what you think!

Here's the latest pic of the tank. I moved the Capnella behind the pink hairy shrooms; I'm hoping to get a small piece of LR to set the coral on so that you can see it.
