My 250 Hammy magnetic for your 175

Downgrading my 11mo, Hamilton 250 magnetic for the 175 version. If your Hammy is 3 yrs or less, case in good condition, & unit functions perfectly, I'd like to arrange a free upgrade.

My ballast will come paired w/ a newly installed 15k XM SE (3wks), and I will need your 175W SE, 10k-20k in exchange, assuming it has less than 10 months of mileage.

If your plug-in socket harness is a Hammy 3-pin, we can each keep our own harness and just swap ballast units. Otherwise, we need to also swap the wire harnesses.

If you are not happy with the swap for any reason, just return my ballast in same condition in 7 days and we will reverse the trade.

Local pickup or delivery, I am willing to travel within 45min of San Gab. Valley, or you can come to my place in Monterey Park. I am located smack in the middle between the 10 & 60, and the 710 & 605.

Pls PM if interested or if you have questions.

I have Hamilton system of 4x175w MH Hamilton + 2x96w VHO, rearanged as 4x175w in center row and 2 of VHO in sides rows. And lot different kind of MH SE bulbs(new+used). How do you want to trade this?

tamphuong,
Are your ballasts dual or single, electronic or magnetic? If you are unsure, you can post a pic of your MH ballasts.
Also, do they connect w/ 3 or 6 pin plugs (or other)?

But honestly, I think this would be an awkward upgrade for you. Upgrading only 1 of 4 SE MH lights is highly irregular, and generally not done unless you want to acheive some sort of differentiated lighting within the tank - perhaps over a crowding or very large sps colony/cluster.

You sure you want to do this?

Sorry, I don't think this is good for you. While it would be great for me, you probably would not want to swap out a dual 175 for a single 250, unless you are seeking to downgrade your wattage like I am.

How many pins are on the harness connectors?

6 pins.

Can you compensate that with something: frag, cash...?

There is a $40 differential between a new dual 175 and a new single 250. The customary 60% for most many goods would come to $24. I could compensate $24 for a trade.
I do have a 10-11" wide hammer coral I can frag in half; beautiful specimen but getting to big for my tank. I bought it half-sized for $65.
6 pins
You have to be willing to disassemble the lamp cord connections inside your lamp housing to remove the wire harness between the ballast and your lamp. Are you okay with that?

Depending on where you live, I might be able to do that for you. But that means 15-25min of work on my part, depending on how many items I have to remove to access the connections. On mine, I had to remove pc bulb socket & fan, and a long wire shroud. If I come to your place, or you come to mine, and I need to do the work, I would call it even with a dual to single downswap and not consider any compensation. This is getting complicated, but I am still open. Where do you live?

I am in Tustin(92780). I can do the work of remove lamp core. Do you need 175w bulbs? FYI: This system is 5 years old.

Tamphuong - sorry, your ballasts have reached their half-life. thanks for working w/ me thus far.

Antiant - pm returned, looks like you have compatible.
