My 29g reef tank

I use a nikon D200 and always shoot Raw on a tripod
For full tank shots with canopy I use a nikkor 12-24
For full tanks shots glass only I use a nikkor 35-70
and for macro shots I use a nikkor 60mm
I typically set my camera to iso 100, raw, autowb, manual matrix
I have found it necessary to correct for wb in post processing with Adobe Camera Raw.

I have to admit that this is the best looking 29 gallon reef tank I have ever seen. Not only do I like the setup design but that you have a few larger corals that really makes the tank stand out.
If you don't mind I have a couple questions regarding your tank that I would like to ask you.
First is how long has the tank been running? I noticed that you have switched to a metal halide fixture, well I was wondering what made you change the lighting from PC to MH?

*The tank was started march 15 of last year so its around 10 months old.
*I wanted to start to play around with sps and so I upgraded from pc to mh. Thus far I have only added a few montiporas but the next will be some acros.
*I think you are right, having a few large sized corals makes the tank stand out. The frogspawn, and the two candy canes have doubled in size in the the past 7 months. I guess I got lucky

My current sump is a very simplistic design. One problem I ran into was evaporation varied from 1/2 to a full gallon a day. My return chamber was small, so I would have to top off every day or run the risk of the sump running dry. My tank sits in the doorway of my condo and I decided early on that I wanted to keep the surrounding area around my tank clean and neat. Thus an auto top off container of water sitting outside my stand would be out of the question. (There is no space in my stand to fit a top off container of water)
The solution was to reverse the chambers.....the small chamber houses the skimmer and the larger chamber has the return pump, heater and fluval in/out tubes. With the evaporation rates I get on my tank I can now let the tank go for a 3-4 days without worrying about the sump running dry. Perfect for those unexpected wild nights in NYC. (note the previous photos were taken before I reversed the chambers)
Sometime down the road I will have a custom sump made to fit an auto top off mechanism under my tank.
