my 3" BTA split

I bought a very small BTA a few months ago-at the most it is 2.5-3",tonight I look in the tank and it has split. So I now have two that are about 1-1.5" each.

Anyone know why it would split while still so young/small?

Some BTA's are large cloners, some are small cloners and some are non-cloners. Yours is probably a small cloner (I'm assuming all your tank conditions are stable and normal).

yes BTA's split when they think they are in trouble, so test your water to see if something is out a whack, if all is good, then you now have 2 healthy BTA's, congrats!

like skeeter said, if a bta split at that size, it's probably stressed by some parameter

I haven't run any tests(in like 3 years) but all SPS,LPS, & clams seem fine..even my monster GBTA is fine-that's the one I thought would split first.
