Dimensons are almost the same except mine is 24 inches long and I had overflows cut diffrently on the top instead of in the middle. Im still waiting on my lights which should be here tomorrow and im going to be getting a better return pump ( which is a minijet ) right now cause the flow is not making it past the last big rock. Im thinking im going to remove some of the sand tonight as well.

waiting at least till the weekend to make sure there is no cycle since i used water from another tank i have thats been up for 2+years. The rocks and sand are new though but should be pretty cured. Ill post some more pics tomorrow after i get my lights and a top for the tank to make sure the mants dont get out!

its actualy not too big. i think the one at the store is 2.5-3 inches , im for sure going to need a top for the tank though cause it would be easy for him to get out

has anyone ever noticed how certain mantis shrimps look alot like Cell from DBZ? kinda random, but drnkjunglist just reminded me of something i was thinking of while procrastinating on RC recently.

ya know, that's a good point about the cell thing! i wanna see mine do a few chi blasts! lol

btw, that tank looks great! is that on your desk, or kitchen?

when/if i get into college, i want to keep a 24 g nanocube with a small peacock mantis (2 inch maybe) on my desk until i graduate and then i'll get a 50 gallon! (far fetched i know, but it's JUST a daydream)

id watch out with a peacock mantis in a nano cube. those can get pretty big and possibly could break the glass, thats why i got this tank made out of acrylic cause the mantis i have at the store is an angry mo fo and snaps at everything.

oh ya and sorry its in my kitchen on the island thing between the living room and my kitchen . i cant wait until i get my T-5's for it tomorrow so i can throw a few corals in and get the mantis in by this sunday

tigahboy's pico had tides. that was so cool. he had an O. scyllarus in the tank for a couple days. did you see the video?

G. tern also gets pretty big( Mine is 4" or so) .
Mine is in a 12 gallon, and I am going to be moving her up to a 20 before too long.

this week im going to make some kinda open top hood to hold the light with and i have to cut down the acrylic top i put on it (mainly for evaporation and to keep the temp stable). im picking up the mantis on wendsday i think.

i got a good idea from something i noticed when i turn the pump on and off. if i turn it on for a second and then turn it off the water rushes into the overflow really quickly. if i put the pump on a wavemaker of some kind that turned it on for 10 seconds then off for 3 seconds or something. i could get some awsome wave action going in it. anyone with any ideas of how i can do this cheaper without getting some wavemaker with 4 power ports. i just need one or 2.

its good for this tank. not the strongest light ever but it is only 28 watts. for anything bigger then a 5 - 10 gallon it would not be good. deff good color though, the "adjustable mounts" are crappy they are just wires that go out to the sides.
