My 3 Gallon Picotype

Well I've never had a thread of my own so I figured I'd start one :D.
I got into reefing almost a year ago and started with a 40 gallon FOWLR that turned into a Reef shortly after. However with college, work, and a girlfriend, my time allotted for upkeep was limited and I was forced to downgrade to a 29. Still having trouble keeping up with my supplements, water changes, algae scraping, joe's juicing, and feeding I was forced to downgrade to a 15 with a 5 gallon HOB refugium. Although this tank was running great, living at college forces me to move my tank almost every 3-5 months! So I decided to downgrade once more to my current 3 gallon.
I seeded the tank with approx. 3# of live rock and made a SSB from my 15 gallon. I used 50% new water and 50% cycled water from my current setup.

After a couple of days of monitoring the water, I added about 2 more pounds of live rock, some corals( 2 different types of zoas, frogspawn, a toadstool, and a piece of flordia recordia), and 1 hermit and 1 astrea.

Also with the stock filter I noticed the flow was insufficient for any the of the LPS I planned on putting in the tank so today I'm going to go to my LFS and get their smallest filter they carry to help add more flow and create a place for my heater to go.
In the near future I'm going to select my other livestock for the tank. I was thinking a green banded goby or neon goby if I chose to kept fish. Most likely I'll end up just getting a pistol shrimp as I've always enjoyed watching them make their homes.
Any questions, suggestions, or constructive criticism is welcome.
Also if anyone has some fun ideas for livestock or corals I'd really appreciate it.

looks nice, i've been looking into a setup like this for my real life "cube" at work. keep us updated on equipment you buy and how it performs.

Last night I bought a second HOB filter to add about 75 more gph to the tank and everything is moving a bit nicer now.
I seemed to have upset a couple of corals last night when I was moving them around and they took quite some time to open up again so I'm questioning my water quality. I'm going to test it tomorrow and if the results come back ok I'll pick up my Tiger Pistol.

Update:
Well after battling a pico cycle :) with many large water changes and patience, the corals seem happy!

As soon as I have 0 nitrates and nitrites for a week I plan to add a tiger pistol shrimp. Is the urban legend true that they can break glass?
Also within the next month I plan to add 2-3 more pounds of LR and some more softies.

Filling it back up with water :D . I don't know in all seriousness, I'm thinking maybe an auto-drip mechanism after I measure how much I lose a day.

I like the look you have now. I wouldnt add much more live rock, and I would wait an extra week or two after you nitrates are down to get the shrimp.

what mods have you made, also is the filter that comes whith the tank in your opinion big enough is circulates"40 GPH" also how is the light working for you i was thinking th eonly thing i would need is the tank and filter i would want a bit more light.

Beautiful tank! I wish they'd let me set up a small tank like that at work. They only allow fish bowls with no electronics running through it >:(

Here is a picture I took this week before I fragged a bunch. I also added magnet eggcrate shelf for my digitata and might put a cap on it too.

Cambarr- No mods have been made except for another HOB filter that does 100 gph. The light works well but that depends on what your keeping.
