hi all just thought id share some photos and a video i got today of my three mantis shrimps.
First is my male Raoulserenea hieroglyphica - spearer:

Next is my small male, 2 inch ish spearer that i think is either a p. cilatia or s. rugosa - tends to run around after food then stick close to rock or under its many burrows so hard to get photos of but im hoping the photos of the eyes may determine its species (Dr Roy?)

I personally like the big point on the end of his rapts!
Here are a couple of vids - one of him just scuttling around and the other of him taking one of these:

Cool-Raoulserenea hieroglyphica never seen that one before is it rare? how big and active is it? Also your chiagra is it active? I'm depating between a peacock and a chiagra

re: the raolserenea - on dr roys list of stomatopods he lists the r. komaii as rare i believe r. heiroglyphica are not listed. it is a rock dwelling animal that is about 4 inches long and its rapts are nearly 3/4 the size of the animal. it comes out and about every now and then but has built a mountain of sand under a bridging peice of live rock and it sits in the 3 inch deep ish hole its dug.
The chiagra on the other hand is amazing - the most outgoing of the mantis i have and certainly more than the peacock i have. i would reccomend the chiagra to anyone - although i did place a large pseudochromis with it this evening to see if it would co-exist - i think the mantis is harrasing it too much so will be moved into our reef tank tommorrow.
