My 37 gallon tall build

So I have a successful 90 gallon reef and have decided to add something new.

The goal here was to have a decent set up at the lowest possible cost

Prices/Equipment

37 gallon tall (new: $80.00)

cpr 1500 gph overflow (used, but new in box ($60)

Return Pump (free, left over from another build)

Stand ($100..made it myself (1st time so its not perfect)

Sand ($10 new off craigslist)

150 watt sunpod w/ new bulb ( used off craigslist with a new 14k bulb $80.00)

75 lbs of live sand (craigslist $40)

Miscellaneous Plumbing ($35.00)


So my goal was to keep it under $400 and almost did it ...........came in around $415 or so

tank is starting to clear up and it looks like its going to have a mini cycle (even though I used some live rock from my 90 gallon)

questions about mh lighting as Ive never had it before

Right now the tank has a sunpod 150 mh 14k bulb....Im liking the look so far and the shimmer is way cool!

So can I keep any creature under this amount of lighting if I put them up 1/2 or so in the tank?

I know that tank is deep so what kinds of stuff can I keep low in the tank or on the sandbed?

Really nice! I just ordered the same tank. 37 gal. column (20x18x25)

I'm going sumpless though and will be using a HOB skimmer. Your rock structure looks good. I'm following along here as to your progress. Also interested to see what you decide to keep in it.

Looks good.
