My 40 Gallon Breeder Reef Tank

Hey folks! I've posted some shots of my tank in the Clown/Anemones forum, but I figured I could post my setup here and include more information and pictures.

This is my 40 gallon tank. It's been running for roughly 2 1/4 years, and was a downgrade from my 75 which I started in september 2007. Therefore a lot of the rock and livestock (clownfish particularly) have been in my care since then.

Here's a quick rundown of the equipment and livestock before the pictures.

Equipment:

Lighting
6 bulb T5 Tek Light. Mix of Blues and a Red Sun bulb.
15" all blue Reefbrite Strip
Circulation
2 Koralia #3s
1 Koralia #1
Filtration
Coralife 220g Superskimmer, fishing line modded
Small HOB filter with rubble and carbon in it
Sumpless

Livestock:

2 Maroon Clownfish pair, the female is roughly 5 1/2 inches.
1 Filefish
1 Flame Angel
1 Starry Blenny
1 Cleaner Shrimp
3 Peppermint Shrimp
1 large red Emerald Crab
1 S. Gigantea anemone I've had for a few years now.
Assortment of corals, clams, etc.
Assortment of snails and hermits, sandsifting star, etc.

I have a ton of pics I'd like to post, and will do so over time, but I'll start with a few that I took a couple weeks ago. I hope you guys enjoy them, and any feedback, good or bad, would be appreciated. As a side note I'll add that I try and keep my pictures true to exactly what I see in front of me, and I like to take pictures at all different lighting stages (reefbrite on/off, actinics on, etc). So far I've been pretty succesful, but tips and tricks for that are also welcome

Doesn't look like you have a sump to hide that skimmer? But other wise I hope my 40 Breeder refurb looks this good

Thanks guys :)

Nope, no sump to hide the skimmer! It really is the only thing keeping it from the very slick look I want, but hey, it works!

The anemone is an S. Gigantea carpet anemone.

Awesome looking tank!
Thats amazing I love the nem, and how big those maroon clowns are!
I love 40 breeders!
Beautiful. Love the clam and the nem!
Awesome work, for a small tank you sure do make it look great!
My next tanks gonna be a 40 breeder !! Nice tank
Gorgeous!

Thank you for all the awesome comments!!

The tank looks amazing! What is your maintenance schedule?

Thanks! My maintenance schedule involves a 40% water change every 4 weeks, and a good scrubbing of the skimmer, powerheads and other equipment every couple months. Aside from that I feed the fish a couple times a day, and feed the corals once a week.

Cheers.

Phil,

The tank is looking great. Nice work!

Thanks man! Always good to hear from my fellow hometown reefers :D

is that flame angel okay in there? is he eating your corals or clams?
do you have a uv sterilizer in there?
I am hoping to set up a 40 breeder like this.

The flame angel is great, it does not peck at anything but rocks. I do keep the tank well fed with a variety of foods. I do not have a UV sterilizer.
Cheers!

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of stand is that and how much was it? I would love nothing more than to get a 40B as an upgrade from my 20L, but the price of a decent stand is somewhat holding me back... That and a new light fixture.

The stand is a simple StingRay stand I believe, I think I picked it up at Big Al's on sale for 130 bucks, or around there.
