My 400 gallon build thread

[emoji16]... You Can't de-rail a thread that's not even on the rails yet!!

400ish gallon acrylic tank, 84x33x32. Center overflow but that's getting cut out and moved right now.

On the stand now. Also have a black acrylic stand and hood for it but it was too tall for my basement.

Do you have cross-beam supports beneath the plywood? I think you'll want to add them if you don't already have them. The plywood will sag in the middle and you've got to have consistent support beneath the acrylic tank.

I just picked up a similer tank except mine has the overflow on the center back wall. I thought about removing it as well. How did you cut yours out? Dremal tool and a whiz wheel?

Yes, there are 4 2x6's running across as well.

Now that the overflow is cut out what what is your plan to cover the supply and return holes?

I haven't 100% decided. I will either cap off the bulkheads in-case I decide to use them for something later or I will weld-on a piece of acrylic over them. Most likely the latter of the two.

I started by trying to use some weld-on 3 to loosen the bond but it was being stubborn and I was getting impatient so a sawzall did the trick in fairly short order.

Acrylic patch over the old overflow holes and look, you can see through the tank now.

It's wet, temporarily with some freshwater and a little over-kill on the rock. I had to empty out a tub of rock I had so I could move it. And a couple pics of the soon-to-be sump/fish room.

The world is working to slow my build...lol. Between a leaky basement which required some concrete work and a shoulder surgery, things are moving a bit slower than planned.

On a build related topic, I am getting a bit of overflow remojination done today, one-handedly.

Thanks guys! I've been working on the concrete some more but with a gimpy arm, I'm moving a bit slow.

It's beginning to look like an overflow box(built by a one armed man).
