My 400g room divider system (photo essay)

I've been planning an in-wall 210 in the basement, but now I'm inspired to knock out the wall and make a room divider with a wet closet like yours. That's a real nice setup it goes really well with you home.

PLEASE.... :D

I posted several at the beginning of the thread. The problem is the tank is so long and short that full tank shots are so small they don't do it justice.

Room dividers give you more than 2x the viewing in the same sized aquarium. It'll be like having a 450 gallon tank with the expense of a 210. :D (That doesn't mean you can cram 400 fish into it. ;) )

Thanks for the reminder gregt. I was just wondering if you had any more recent shots. How old are the ones at the beginning of the thread? Have your corals grown out enough to notice a difference?

Ive been following the thread for a while. I put my vote in for Tank of the Month! :D

Thanks ReefWaters. Other than the new fish, I haven't taken any pictures since the last I've posted. I've been incredibly busy. The tank is doing well despite my neglect, thank goodness...

Oh Yeah! I know what you mean. I just got back in town from a week and half long business trip. I was so worried about my tank but when I got home all I really had to do was clean the skimmer, add some fresh water to the top off system, and clean the glass. Okay, I had to remount a few frags too. Those 1.5" Turbos are gone! :D

Even more suprising, my calcium and alk were PERFECT! I have been having trouble getting my new reactor dialed in and I guess all it took was not touching it for 2 solid weeks.

Keep up the good work.

So greg,

I am in the planning stages for my light set up for my 400 in wall. I was wondering, now that you have had your system set up for a while, are you still satisfied with using chains and PVC? Would you change anything if you set up your system again?

Thanks

Awesome tank. You and Bomber have made me want to change my tank over to BB. I will be doing it next week.
Quick question about water changes. Do you replace the water you skim out with new saltwater. If so, then you're doing about 40 gallons new SW a month according to how much you said you were skimming. Thats about 10% a month. Do a large one every couple of months (50-100 gallons) and I would think it should be fine. Does that sound right?
I was thinking of doing a 360 gallon. just 4 inches taller than yours but I think I like yours better. I may do a 300 now.
Thanks for the great read. Later,
Jeff

Do you have to dose everyday? How do you know how much to dose? How often do you have to test?

Can you point me toward some threads or articles on this topic?

Thanks,
Jeff
