My 525 gallon.

Your returns submerged so deeply into the water are eventually going to result in disaster. I would move those much closer to the surface- about 2 inches below the water line...MAX!

One quick question to anybody browsing through. I need english instructions to the Jetstream2. Can someone help me with that pls.

Thanks

Vic

I have a Jetstream 2... what do you need help on?

Thanks invincible569, basically I was either looking for instructions in english or a pic of it running and I will figure it out.

I fixed the returns today. I also got 2 tunze 6200 but I didn't put them in yet. I got alot done as far as stands for my fuge and water change tanks. I also got my ATO installed.

One question for the acrylic experts. I got a scratch on the inside of my tank from my algae magnet. How do I remove it?

Thanks

Vic

Amazing. That is one big tank... water changes are the one thing I don't particularly care for in this hobby and I only have a 125 gallon tank. I would be interested to learn what your water change schedule and scheme will be for this system (650 total volume x 10% = 65 gallons, min, per change - yikes!).

Not sure what he is doing but I am going to be running a dual head metered pump when I get around to hooking it up. It pumps 5 gallons a day out into a drain and pulls in the same amount of new salt water per day. I know I wouldn't want to change 60 gallons at a time. Yikes is right

What type of collectors are on the solotubes? Is there a way to get more light into the tube itself? Maybe some type of sun tracking collector =]

I also feel you will need more flow.

I did get 2 Tunze 6200 pumps for more flow.

As far as the tubes. I have both with the optiview reflectors. They spread light through the entire tank. I will know more about how well the solatubes do once I get some corals in there. As of now my kenya tree and my GSP love the light from the tubes. My fish also love it. It's great to see them swimming around as the sun is starting to rise in the morning.

Sorry, I forgot the hit on the water change issue. Here is what I in the process of doing. I have my 75 gallon fuge sitting a couple of feet from my display, under it I have what I call a sub sump of 75 gallons also. The fuge will drain into the sub sump and the sub sump into my main sump. I have a bulkhead from the bottom of the sub sump with a ball valve into my drain. I also am plumbing a T from the fuge. What I will do is bypass the sub sump and change water from that tank and mix new water in the tank and then shut the bypass off. This way I will remove 75 gallons from the system without disturbing my display or my fuge as well as my main sump. I'll post pics when I get it done this weekend.

I hope that made sense....lol.

Vic

It does make sense and it's a great way to do it as long as the water gets mixed in a bit before it hits the main tank.

Here are a couple of updates. Sorry I cant access RC from work to chat

Water change tank and fuge tank is done. I just have to set up the fuge. I have a 440 watt of VHO's that I might use, not 100% sure yet. I was thinking of experimenting with a dark fuge made up of a DSB with a ton of cleaner clams.

very nice, perfect tank dimensions. another RCer with a skylight said it worked great in the summer but needed supplemental light in the winter, then when the high intensity sun hit again in the summer it burned some of the corals, too much intensity too quickly. maybe there is a way to adjust (automatically?) the supplemental lighting with a parr meter? I'm looking into this with my next tank
