My 540G Inwall Display Build Thread

Just spent over an hour reading this entire thread. Great job and I love the build. How is cleaning the acrylic?

That is looking amazing! The growth rates between now and when you set it up is just astonishing. You must be feeling very proud of what you have acomplished in a relativley short amount of time. Well done.

I feel pretty good about the system but I have very high standards to I'm not overly impressed with it. Cleaning the acrylic is pretty easy with the great white magnets with do ie pads on them.

It appears the tank will be coming down in the next few months due to a move. I will take some pictures and make a final posting wrapping things up shortly.

Tank is down and in its new home. Hope the new owner will return it's to its glory and share here. Final pictures.

this tank was so beautiful i loved looking at the growth between 2011 and 2015 any chance you have growth pictures from a month or so before you took the tank down?

Crazy to see your build thread, being able to see the tank in person a few times over the years , and now the break down. Did the shed and stuff go with the new owner?

What an incredible journey over the last 5 years. I feel like I just watched an A+ documentary reading through this thread. Sorry if I already missed the answer to this question but, what's to come next?

Thanks for the kind words. I learned a lot from the tank. I really enjoyed it and it was hard to empty and tear down. The truth is I was getting a bit worn out with the hobby after 16 years with a tank or 3. I was rarely looking at it and not keeping it up to the high level I like to do things at. It didn't look bad but not amazing.
As for what's next, I have grown increasingly concerned about being responsible environmentally now that I have a child who is going to inherit whatever we leave behind. I find it harder and harder to justify the hobby and its impacts on the ocean. I really tried to do a lot of stuff in the build in a green fashion but it's hard to get the livestock that we love and not have it taken from the ocean. I doubt I will have another tank. If I do it will make this tank look like a raindrop and it would have to be at a time when there are a lot more fish being tank bred.
