My 70gal almost-cube rimless tank (Soon to be SPS Dominated)

Did you end up having to manually remove the algae? Are you running GFO or other phosphate binders?

Yep. Removed the algae manually. Using phosban now and based on my test kits (elos and API), its 0.01 only.

My only issue now is that there are still some red cyano which I want to get rid of. Any ideas how?

Nice new toy pare! I myself tried the 3mos. cyling , worked great on my last skimmerless set up. May i post a few old pics here? :)

I used chemipure elite + a few extra water changes to get rid of my red cyano on the sand bed.

I don't think chemipure elite and red slime remover is available here. Right now I still do manual removal of whatever cyano algae I can get and regular stirring of the sand bed to lift up any dirt or algae in the sand. Nitrates last night was at 5ppm while the phosphates are at 0.1 only. So i really don't know how the algae keeps growing.

I also dose mb7 as per instruction and it has helped clear up my water. Could it be causing the cyano?

so any new pics on the tank progress

Will post pics soon. I just got back from my holiday trip a few days ago and haven't had time to take pics. All LS doing great though. All polyps extended and even the finicky fishes have acclimated already and has started eating whatever I drop in the tank.

I had a cyano problem and it turned out to be my RO water. I hadn't changed the filters in a while and I was getting 15ppm. After changing them it's cleared up.

That could be your problem. If you have a TDS meter you might want to check it out so you know exactly what you're getting. It's very hard to find 0tds water from a water refilling station, but not impossible. I used to get it from a place in town. Getting your own RODI unit is best. If you're thinking about getting one check out the Vertex Puratek, my buddy has one and loves it! It does all kinds of cool stuff. I want to buy one but there's nothing wrong with the one I've got, lol.

I see. Better test their water or better yet get my own RO system. I just don't know where I can set it up. heheheh Might have to install it in my garage. heheh! Thanks eros!

I've got mine mounted under my sink. It doesn't really take up much room. You can get some fittings to split your cold water supply line and run that to the unit then you need to tap into your drain to run the waste-water line. It's pretty easy. Most kits come with everything you need.

Just a moonlight shot of my tank i took a couple of days ago.
