My 75 up and running.

Well I finally got my 75 up and running. I'll have pics once I get home from work tomorrow. Quick questions though.

1. Tank has 80lbs of live sand and 60lbs of live rock. Should I start running the powerheads now or should I wait for the tank to clear up.

2. When should I start running the lights.

I would turn the powerheads on now, its not going to be bad thing if you do. It's only going to start circulating the water... If you close to having you cycle done, then I would also start creating a schuedule too...

Power heads filtration etc on, this will help clear the tank up and keep the tank water from going stale.
I would wait to turn the lights on until the cycle is over, this will help you out alot with algae issues since it is a new tank.

just make sure you can see the direction of flow as not to disrupt sand.with that small amount of rock, i would stack it high in the center to blow the diatom.

Well I started both powerheads last night a seio 620 and a seio 1100. Both are mounted in the back corners with flow directed towards the center of the tank. The 1100 hangs a little low in the tank with the bracket that was included. Woke up this morning and the water has cleared up alot. Not 100% clear but getting there. I can only imagine what your tanks look like if 60lbs of live rock as a small amount. I guess it won't look like so much once I start aquascaping.

As for the tank everything seems to be going good. I still have to pick up a test kit though, and need some hose to hook up the UV sterilizer. My temp seems to be holding stable about 2 degrees above room temp, which is 82 so 84 for the tank. I have yet to add a fan or 2 which I plan on doing soon. Room temp is set to 80 at the time when I'm going to have the lights turn on so I should be ok temp rise. The warmest the house gets is 82.

Heres some pics.

So what would I replace the bio balls with. Its better for me to do it now then later since the tanks only been running for 3 days.

You could put some small pieces of live rock
