My 80G build

Looking for info on stocking this bad boy. Mostly sps. Id love a tang and honestly im not huge on the bristletooth's. open to re-homing my stock list besides my angel/ melanurus, and clowns.

Top down is from before I got the sump up.

The three frags are 4th of july acro, matrix, and purple plasma I got at a swap, can't wait to grow them out.

all three brown frags are from divers den, was a big colony but came with rtn. they're all dead now, Ill never ever order from them again, because that was literally my first experience with them.

Nice start! Your fish list looks good, I would not add a tang unless you went with a Kole (I know you don't like bristletooth tangs, but the Yellow Eye Kole is one of my very favorite fish and a great algae eater). I am a little concerned that your cheato will not get enough light under the egg crate and will be difficult to flip over. It needs to be flipped once or twice a week or the algae on the bottom will start to die from a lack of light.

The swallowtail angle as well as the tang will need a larger tank. You might be able to pull off a yellow tang in that size tank.

Yeah I know they will get big. I originally had them in a larger tank but I switched directions. Kole tang would be good though. The egg crate is real easy to remove, as well.

Lemon peel tangs will get fairly large (around 8 inches)
I would say stick with a bristle tooth or yellow tang.

I think this is the juvenile, vivid says 70g minimum.

You might be able to pull it off if you find a small one, but as I mentioned before they get over 8" in length and am sure that he would be happier in a larger tank.

Yeah I did see the length, not sure why they have them in as 70g or up. bristletooth just don't have the color id like. And I feel limited with the whole "reef safe" thing.

Haha, I found the avatar online and thought that it would fit my account well. The yellow tang will be fine as long as its the only tang in the tank as they get picked on quite a bit. I work at my LFS and see yellow tangs getting bullied 24/7. We usually try only one tang per tank for this reason.

Yeah I've heard that and assumed it would be my only tang. I don't see anyone who would pick on it. Melanurus is very relax and the angel seems to be the same way.

if you are looking for color in a bristletooth then go with at white tailed bristletooth, I have one and it is my favorite fish! expensive and hard to find (I waited 6 months for mine) but well worth it.

Stunning aren't they?! I paid a cool $280 for mine lol (well justified in my personal opinion).. great personalities and amazing algae grazers as well. I put him in with my Tomini tang and they get along great there was a little aggression in the beginning but they settled in within a few hours... now they swim and graze together. have had both of them in the same tank now for almost 2 years
