Hi their, my name is James. Kinda a new poster, Somewhat longtime reader.

My fiancee, newborn, and myself are currently located in NC. She is a life long resident, and I have spent half my life here and half my life in Queensland, Australia.

So hello, thank you for the stolen knowledge, and this has been my journey. :reading:

INCOMING BUILD THREAD: :deadhorse:

Alrighty! Going to start a build thread here, document my progress, receive yall's criticism. Pictures will come shortly.

BACKGROUND:

We started a 75 gallon, mixed reef (48x18x21), about 9 months ago. Very quickly got hooked.. Pun intended. We upgraded about 6 months ago to a 210g display. The 75 is now in possession of Olaker, and we hope it is doing great!

Our 75 very quickly became crowded, we purchased a Naso, and just didn't feel right having him cramped up in a four foot box. The 210g display was up and running for some time.. Until we noticed, that the entire system was falling through the floor. Literally.

In the setting of the new tank, we took extreme care to avoid this. The floor was renforced with two sets of 4x4s and cement foundation.. Under the floor, exactly where the 6x2" footprint is. Like so --> -
--------
| x x | X = 4x4
--------- -- = tank outline.

Problem was.. The stand the 250g system was on, was a corner footing stand.. I.e weight is distributed on four points Vs one big foundation. Like so --->

X X
X X X marks the spot all weight rests on.

So, the bottom left X, ( front left leg of stand if looking directly at the display) began to slowly sink through the ground. This is due to the fact that 3000lbs was being distrubuted over four tiny points. Essentially missing our 4x4 supports, bending the plywood under the carpet around the 4x4.

A stand that would support and distribute 3000lbs easily, hold all my equipment, and fit an ETSS800 super skimmer. Easily above my sump.

A stand 73x48x25. With a footprint as such -->. _____

Sorry I'm a visual person.

That's 48in stand, 30in tank, 12in canopy... That's an 8ft monster tank. Muhahahaha! Naso shall swim directly at eye level.. No matter where he is in the tanks. Cool.

None of this was possible without Chris and Jacob.. Just sayin.
