I added sixty pounds of base rock from hirocks.com today. Actually, I just finished doing it. Here is the finished product.

Note: the corals are mostly closed right now and the water is still cloudy.

Warboc, how often do you do water changes and how would it be done in a 75 gallon which I'll be doing soon. My dad and I plan on building the stand next week; can't wait for some father and son bonding time.

I do an 18 gallon water change ever other weekend. I am probably goign to do a 8 to 10 gallon change on the other weekends now though, to keep calcium levels up and more stable.

So you do a 20% water change that makes it a 15 gal water change in a 75 gal. Does that sound like enough for everyother weekend?

Have you thought of adding shrimps? I can't remember if you had any.

I have one skunk cleaner shrimp in the tank. it is kinda shy but comes out more often now than it has in the past. I frequently see my tang, blenny, and goby go to it for cleaning.

They go to the shrimp and open their mouths. It picks and cleans inside their mouths and also in and around the back of their gills. It's really a lot of fun to watch.

my cleaner shrimp was all over my blue tang yesterday - i think it was the 10,000 miles service.

:)

Warboc - what do you keep with the sand in the refuge in order to keep it reasonably clean?

I'm asking because there is a brown looking film growing over my DSB in the fuge now.

thanks

I have one huge turbo snail in my refuge. It keeps the glass clean. As for the sand, I can't even see it. I grew my caulerpa very thick and it is nto very packed in the fuge. That's just how I wanted it. There's lots of pods swimming about throughout it now. :)
