my 9002 is noisy ... help !!

I originally posted in the lighting and equip fourm and was refered to posting here. the noise my skimmer is making is more of a gurgling sound . it was purchased used and everything seems to be there . it is on a newly setup tank and I haven't seen any skimmate yet .

It is too deeply submerged. Do the following.

Unplug the skimmer.
Raise the skimmer so the wavy line is 1/2" above the actual water surface.
Close the airscrew completely.
Plug it back in.
Wait a few seconds and slowly open the airscrew 3-4 turns.

The US pump is stronger so it has to be a bit higher to avoid sucking in water to the airline system. This procedure should remove most of the water in the airline but a full dissassembly or a few days may be required to get it all out.
