My 90g RR/30g custom sump

my brothers 40g diamond shaped tank is done cycling and we've started moving the contents of his 28g over.

we ordered a few things from CCritters, we both felt it was about time to replenish our CUC's

here was our shopping list

10 astrea
10 florida ceriths
10 nerite
10 nassarius
10 turbo snails
1 porcelein crab
1 cucumber
1 viridis rock urchin
10 "mixed" crabs ( website says there for octopus food, mainly decorators and others i assume gorilla crabs and probably green porcelein)
1 black sea squirt
1 orange/red sea squirt
1 fuzzy chiton
1 mantis shrimp ( i missed having one, he'll go in my sump for alittle while to i get something for it)
1 purple sponge cluster with sponge zoanthids on it

total was 116 with over night shipping

that order is coming in tomorrrow, dana was all out of mantis shrimp and the sponge with zoanthids, so i got a small sargassum angler for my sump and some other invertrates to make up the price difference, i'll try to take pictures of everything as i unbox it.

sorry guys no pictures i was way too tired this morning when it arrived,

everything arrived is good health and was well packaged,

love my little angler, he's about 1"

i wasn't really paying attention when i was half awake earlier, introducing everything to the tanks but my order was short

5 assorted crabs
2 grey cowries
1 black sea squirt

not a huge deal, Dana is really great to deal with and we're communicating on how get it handled.

coming from aquacave on tuesday :
4x 48" ATi blue+ bulbs
an aquamedic overflow comb for my sump
some Fritz invertabrate food
and decaped brine shrimp

angler is doing extremely well and eating silversides already.

everything arrived yesterday, and thankfully my bulbs were still in 1 piece.

spent about an hour yesterday scraping all the coralline of the side-panes of glass and installing 2 of 4 new bulbs, HUGE DIFFERENCE just looking at them you can see how my old bulbs aren't half as bright and you can see them pulsing and not lighting fully, they were only 10 months old

and the new MP10. every looks wonderful so far

also stopped by vallejo aquarium yesterday and bough 2 more pajama cardinals and rescued a small sun coral they were neglecting for $10

pulled the seio out already
but there's several reasons i went with mp10's :

1. mp10's are more reliable than mp40's (mp40 wetsides go bad randomly)

2. i can get more of a varied flow with 2 mp10's on reef crest.

3. 2 mp10's are more flow than 1 mp40, (http://glassbox-design.com/2010/vortech-mp10-wave/) 2x MP10= 3600gph MP40 = 3000

4. i paid 175 each for my mp10's new with good planning and coupons

had alittle bit of algae problems this month, needed to replace my Ro filters and change my GFO out,

haven't purchased any new livestock recently but did start dosing my tank with prodibion biodigest 2 days ago.

2 Nano Yellow Frilly Sponge
1 Nano Pin Cushion Urchin
1 Blue Vase Sponge

1 Nano Serpent Star

for my bro's:

1 Nano Pin Cushion Urchin

for bro's friend:

i've decided to setup a 10g display refugium macro garden on my desk and connect it to my main system. i purchased a 45mm drill bit from aquacave along with some hardware and a bulkhead.

i also bought a bunch more invertebrates from reefcleaners, i emailed back and forth with john this evening about needing more bio-diversity and he's going out tomorrow to get me some sponges and macros and he's also going to ship me a few pounds of that mud that he used to have for sale on the site.

20 Dwarf Cerith
1 Florida Fighting Conch
5 Fuzzy Chiton
10 Florida Cerith
1 Juvenile Pincushions
12 Limpets
2 Micro Porcelain Crabs
1 Chaeto
1 Tang Special - Mixed Gracilaria
1 Ulva
10 Zig Zag Periwinkles
5 Nassarius Vibex
5 Nerite Snails (Small - Medium)

i love inverts.

the new tank will also be the new home of my sargassum angler who is atleast 3" long now and can eat a whole silver side chopped into pieces.

What type of sponges? I've been looking for more diversity myself, but don't want the big sponges typically found at the LFS. I'd rather have a small specimen and have it grow.

it's up to his discretion what he told me was :
THe ones that ship well tend to be the uglier ones, but I will see what I can get. Warning though, this stuff will look and be "raw". Sponges and the life on rocks are kind of ugly, and have all sort of encrusting what not, and this that and the other....up to you to sort it out.

I WISH!!! unfortunately there not fertilized, i'd be tempted to try and find a male but from what i've read there extremely cannibalistic, and one or the other will get eaten in the process.

looks like it's just going to be free fish food
