I disagree about getting a new forum as I have seen some results of that I know that. This is not a perfect system but there are reasons for the rules and I will add rules that I have broken a few times and got my threads pulled but if you look at other places I think we do a good job of staying out of the spot light as there are other clubs that seem to enjoy. I know you can post on the threads to buy from any one and state the fact you are coming to the swap but if you try to sell they will pull it. This is to protect the people on here from some people who mess people over and change names and then do it again. Like I stated it is not perfect but it works. also I know that a lot of people have been busted when trying to sell acans that have just started getting into the US as some people are buying them wholesale and trying to resale them as they fraged theres. If this doesn't make sense I will talk to you at the swap. we do look forward to seeing what you have.

You can still bring your stuff to sell and it will probably sell out if its nice and priced right but just no selling hear on RC as you now know

I currently run a forum with about 5000 members, and while it's not nearly as big as RC, I can assure you that the system here is very efficient, effective and NEEDED. The potential for scams here are multitudes greater than on my own forum, and we have had problems over the years over there. Heck, we've had members that had been joined for 2-3 years, had reliable transactions, been contributing members and then suddenly ripoff 20-30 people for hundreds apeice. Not cool at all, and very hard for staff to justify keeping a forum open, especially when people blame you for not doing a better job.

I thought the same thing. I was suprised to see your thread closed. Are you not going to the swap? You can leave them with me when you get there I'll put them on our table. Just lmk what you have to get out of them and if they don't sell I'll bring them to the shop first of the week. Maybe the mods just saw your post count and didn't notice how long you were registered.

Hello... Wayne. You always want to bust my chops on this and are missing the point.
I never said or condoned moving our MAIN form of communication away from RC. I don't know why the slightest mention of needing another place to communicate SOME things make people think this is what I'm suggesting. But these rules you speak of are exactly the reason to have yet ANOTHER complimentary place of which to communicate in. Just because it breaks a rule by one organization doesn't mean that it doesn't need to be communicated in another form for the benefit of our club... especially when the rules are sometimes seen as subjective.A primary example... our club has sponsors right? Well, maybe they don't want to be a RC sponsor. If they aren't a RC sponsor, they are prevented from promoting their business and/or affiliations with us directly. We can talk about them among ourselves, but if they were to come on RC spitting their business... they would get the royal boot. I think its pretty factual that when sponsors of RC come and go they can get black-balled. ie: AirWaterIce was a banned word until they because a sponsor.
Do I disagree with the rules? No... they can run it how they want to, but that doesn't mean that if RC doesn't allow it that we just have to shut face and not communicate things we may or may not want to. Is RC good? Yes, they by far have the largest community on the web for reefing and the most reliable information backed by Gods of the hobby.
I just don't see a problem at all for a complimentary form of communication to RC. If you would like to expound on why you believe a complimentary forum or the like isn't beneficial, please do so.

It wouldn't hurt to have 2 boards. One at RC and one on our website.

I know it is a good idea in theory a 2nd place to go and post those things that RC will not let us post. The problem starts in the application of it and is it part of MTRC if you just want a 2nd forum go start a group in yahoo but in order for the club to start one who is going to Mod it? that means constantly watching all the post to make sure it doesn't break all the rules? what rules you want one with no rules well what happens when one person gets mad at a sponsor? or puts stuff up that offends another member or if I want to post some questionable post of my nudibranch I am not busting your chops but I have seen the way this is heading in a different club and it was not Good why do u think I posted the other thread about how nice our area is. You really realize how nice you have it when you see how bad it can get. I would like a chat feature that would be easy to do but I am not sure for a lot of the same reasons it would be able to work out. We should use more of our website but we need some people to step up and help. That was one of the other things the BOD had talked about in our first meetings.
The disclaimer on this whole post though this is my opinion and should not be taken as the opinion of the BOD if members wanted to explore the other options we sure can and I know I would support the wishes of the club, but we would have to vote on it after discussing it.

I dont wanna step on anybodies toes, but waynesworld, are you the only member of the BOD of the club or are you the president or vice president of it? If not, I dont think you should be shooting down ideas from members because of something that happened far from TN or whatever. The club needs its own board for things that cannot be said on RC because of its rules. We all know you are buying wholesale and reselling it to club members and on RC which technically goes against the rulesof RC. Wouldnt you like a place where you can sell your stuff without going behind peoples backs and PM'ing people who respond to sale threads when you have something similar.

You really need to read if you can as I put that in the post it was my opinion not the BOD. As far as your other comments the fact that you have to create a new I d to put a comment on shows how much stock I put in what you said.
