What do you target feed this guy? I've read mysis shrimp. Any others like Oyster Feast, Reef Roids, Cyclopeeze?

From what I understand, you won't have much luck with the oyster feast, roids or cyclopeeze...Elegance really like meaty foods.

I feed mine pellet food and PE Mysis. I find that the PE Mysis has a significantly higher protein content than other frozen foods I've used in the past like silversiders - read the packages & compare. I feed mine once every two to three weeks to keep growth manageable. Cyclopeeze is unfortunately too small for their large mouths.

How long have you had yours? I am by no means an expert(But have had Elegance since the 90's) but you are only feeding enough to sustain him. If he would fall ill, might not be strong enough to pull through. You feed once every 3 weeks. Not near enough. I feed 3 times a week and very generously as well... Typically they would not consume pellets but i am sure he is very hungry and trying to intake any nutrition he can get.. You would need to feed a half a carton of mysis a week for proper nutrition.. But each to there own i suppose.. Just consider how much and often they would eat in there natural enviroment.. We can nowhere match that in captivity so consider that as well.

I know a thing or two about them. Been propagating a rarer deep water indo-elegance going on 7 years now, currently on my 7th generation of frags. They grow like gangbusters on my diet of high quality pellets and PE Mysis fed once every three weeks. I currently have 9 frags taking up half my 50 gallon tank.

plasma327 - You can't use anecdotal evidence and speculation too define how these corals should be looked after. It's great that you are having success with such heavy feeding but it isn't the only way, or even necessarily the best way. Heavy feedings = nitrates & phosphates. Perhaps Scotty doesn't have awesome filtration, large % water changes and phosphate remover and therefore this would be bad advice.
I've kept Elegance corals for over 4 years, all healthy and growing without any spot feeding. They eat everything and just catch particles from what I feed the fish (mysis, roe, pellets, marinara mix, live brine). See the elegance in my journal & note its growth for evidence that they don't require large spot feeding.

I only share my experience with keeping these corals. How i do things is not the best or even considered correct i am sure.. I am very happy that everyone has success keeping these corals via there method. I only share my experiences.. I would be the last to tell other keepers they are wrong in there practice or how i do things is the best way. I just share my practice and it can be taken with a grain of salt.. I am just the average reef keeper..
I do have many years of experience but in know way know everything. I just share what works for me.. Thanks.
