My bad experience at aqua life

After reading this, I went there at 10:00 this morning. This was my first time visiting AquaLife. After being frisked and put through the metal detector...j/k...

...I actually really enjoyed my visit. Kyle was extremely helpful, while the other 3 gentlemen stayed upfront. The tanks were a bit smallish, considering some of the fish that were being kept in there, but apparently their big tank was down. The fish selection was very good, and all of the corals and inverts were very healthy. Definitely ranks up there with the top Bay Area stores.

All in all, the best fish store in the area (at least until John's up and running;) ).

Regards,

Karl

Ive had my reservations for other reasons, but I must say my handfull of visits this past 6 months have been a complete turnaround from what I use to anticipate from them. Now,Im very happy with not only there selection but more importantly there customer service. Infact my last visit was stupendous!Guess what I got for just 10 dollars!!!muHWahahaaha :smokin: Its about the only place here in Sac area that you can see some exotic corals come through once in a while with out the LE price tag(other than John's of course ;) ).Contrary to Exotic who now pays close attention to the online commotions and price there corals accordingly(that is when you dare to ask how much there unmarked stock is.....)For example, a 3-4 polyp "orange crush acan" for 90 bucks!!And he acted like he was doing me a favor LMAO!

although Sam, I was at three bay area stores this weekend and If I could have found an orange crush acan under $120 it would have amazed me. Not that I'm defending Exotic, I wont go in there any more.
So, what did you get for $10...you can't just put that out there and not tell us..

Well Sam's not the only one who stares at things for 20 min,Im sure I deserve my fair share of tazering:D

With close examination of some yellow figi leathers I noticed something encrusting at the base of one to my amazement it was a Montipora. Now ask me what Monti is faster than a speeding bullet and able to leap a skyscraper in a single bound?;)

The polyps werent red in the store but they just got it in a less than a week before so I was really hopefull and very mums the word. What triggered my attention was the unmistakable bumps of coralites that the denae has, and a hint of blue coloration. Now as the days go by alls I can say is Dun duda dun!Superman!:D A nice 2&1/2 X 1&1/2" peice for 10 dollars!!Man,I love buying brown corals :lol2:

-Justin

And for some of you who are unfamiliar with the Superman(montipora) denae, this peice usually sells 50-80$ for a 1/2-3/4 inch peice.Needless to say Im stoked, now Ill have something to trade for that elusive sunrise monti Ive been wanting for along time now as well.

When People are obviously staring at me I stick my finger up my nose and turn their direction. It ussually takes care of the staring problem and turns the culprit a scarlet red color.

Its esspecially fun to do in traffic and watch people reactions - I'm weird maybe, But Its a riot sometimes.

As far as the LFS goes, they are just like any other catagory of store you go into. I'm sure You've had poor service but great food at a restruant before, and I bet you went back and gave em another try because their food was so good. Next time Different Waitress = Better experience.

Repeated negative experiences at a store is of course a fantastic reason to never ever go back. But one mearly unpleasant experience doesnt seem to warrant a lifetime boycott and store bashing.

I've never been to aqualife but will check them out soon.

btw creeper, Did you or any of the people with you have backpacks or other bags with you? If So, I'd have been following you around watching you like a hawk as well.

I sort of agree with TK, execpt for the nose picking part (but I do undersdtand that you're wierd).

I still think you should talk to Aaron and tell him about your experience and how you felt as a customer. I understand your reluctance, and that you just want to blow them off. But coming myself from a management background, I can tell you I would be realled ****ed if someone had a a credible issue with one of my employees and didn't bring it to my attention. At least give me, as the boss, an opportunity to fix the wrong. Also, and this isn't directed so much at you as towards the trend you see here on RC...people bashing a company before ever giving them the chance to right the wrong. You see it a lot here on RC, and in most cases once given the chance the company comes through. But how many people only read the first few posts of the thread and never get to that part?

I know this doesn't exactly fit here, and is sort of an extreme, but I always told my team I don't want to hear you complain unless you're willing to help fix the problem.

No i did not have a backpack on nor did the people I was with. This is not the first time I have been trated this way by aqualife for the record I did give them a 2nd and a 3rd chance they will not get a chance to do it again.

I also understand the way you guys feel aqualife does sponsor your club so I do understand but I will not be treated like that from any business

I am not defending aqualife as a member of the MARS BOD, nor as one of their faithful customers. All I am saying is that you felt that you were wronged by them, and unless you do something (like speaking to their manager about it) all you are doing is passively supporting their behavior.

For me personally, if I were in your shoes, I would choose to stand up and call them on it.

I did bring it to there attention I really do not think anything was done about it of course the will always tell you what you want to hear.

Why did it take so many posts to finally get that out of you? You could have saved my several posts, when I first brought up talking to the manager, if you had just said that you already did.

Then if you still feel that you are being wronged, even after speaking to the manager then I agree, you should not spend your denero there, and I would even write a complaint letter addressed to the owner Doug.

I talked to the manager about the first few times it happen . I did not talked to them about this time no need to for the 3rd time I can do more damage by keeping my money in my pocket. Done with this thread.
