My Banana Eel.

That is so cool! I'm really jealous! Is there much of a difference between a banana and a dwarf golden moray?

Also, what do you use to cover your tank?

Thanks!

I went to a local glass place and had them make a glass lid, that fis perfectly over the tank, you can buy the hinge part at Ebay.
My overflows are covered also, the glass lid sits on top of the overflow covers, there is no place for that eel to get out. Helps you sleep at night.

The banana eel will get up to 24 inches, you will considerably narrow your fish list with a Moray Eel this size compared to a 12 inch dwarf eel.

I do not see any difference in personality between both type of eels, they both seem to be very outgoing and very personal eels.

Getting a banana Eel over the dwarf means extra steps that you do not need in a smaller eel.
You will be making him your center piece.
Secure the rocks if it means with cement or threaded rods. You need tons of hiding spots for him, and more rocks you have better filtration you will have.

Buy human grade shrimp from a local store, non-cook, not the imported crap that you get at Walmart and Publics.
Do not feed silverside, they have been know to kill fish and they suck as a food nutrition.

Always soak the food with selcon, its a must.
Will keep your fish healthy.

It didn't take long, haha.

New cleaner shrimp doing his duty already, enjoy.
Sorry for the bad pics, I had to zoom in from the back of my tank inside a hole.

The shrimp is always hanging out with the eel.

Never has tried, but also I never push it. I have had him over 7 months now.

Baby steps is the key, and watching how he acts.

Also I never tease him with his food. Hoping he has learned he doesn't need to hunt to eat, but who knows for sure.

The bird is Yellow Bib Lory.

Will try to get a video of him, which is very hard to do, because of him attacking the camera.

Beautiful Eel. I've always loved the Banana's, Golden Dwarfs, Blue Ribbons and Snowflakes the most. What size tank is that? 120? I doubt a Banana eel would fit in my 75.

My tank is a 92g corner with a 40g breeder for the sump.

I personally would not put a banana eel in 75g.
My tank is on the limits I would think the minimal that should be.

I have tons of rocks, top end equipment, and my livestock is minimal (One eel and 3 fish).

I'm setting up a 90 gallon reef centered around a goldentail moray (same species as the banana, just the 'average' color variant). Was wondering how he and the shrimp are doing still. Did he ever end up turning aggressive toward any of the inhabitants. I really want a goldentail, but I like shrimp too.
Anyone else know about their compatibaility with small fish/shrimp? Expereince that is? I know its always a possibility, but from what I've read, they're usually very calm and peaceful.
