Hello everyone,
So yesterday I bought a Barberfish butterfly. They are also known as Black Nose Butterfly fish. As far as I can tell they are pretty rare and there is very little information about them on the web and the only information I have gathered about them is that they are decently reef safe and will pick parasites and dead skin off of other fish. Anyways, I added him yesterday and he is still not eating. Since yesterday evening, I have fed green nuri seaweed, frozen mysis, and arctipods and he shows no interest in them. He was eating mysis like a pig in at the fish store, which is why I am worried. I have seen him occasionally pick at live rock and have seen him pick parasites and other random things off of the Scopas Tang that I have (They are known to behave kind of like cleaner wrasses when it comes to eating stuff off of fish). All of the fish that I have kept usually start eating the next day that I get them if not the night that I bought them so I am pretty worried. Is it normal for him not to be eating yet (under 24hrs) or am I just being paranoid? Is it a good sign that he occasionally picks at LR?
Any information helps!
Semi-relevant info: The Scopas also may be stressing him out a little bit. He follows him around clearly wanting to be cleaned. The tang doesnt really show any agression to the butterfly and only looked like he wanted to fight the butterfly for the first hour until he realized that the butterfly would be willing to clean him lol.
