My Big Boy Tank

Well, it has been pretty dead here lately so I had some time off and thought I should share my "big boy tank." After winning RC nano tank of the month, I told my wife that Ade told me I needed to get a big boy tank. After asking for years, inciting the name of Ade to my wife, she agreed to let me have the tank! Six months after acquiring Thurlow's old tank, I have modified to my liking with an excellent head start by Roger. A few minor equipment upgrades (well not to my wife), a lot more fish for the kids (they could care less about the SPS), and 30+ new SPS frags that are starting to grow out, here you go.

Pictures are not the best as I have very little clue about digital photography. I read a couple of links here on RC played with the fstop and shutter speed. I have no clue what to do about white balance but here we go. Any teachers out there?

My Favorite Fish - I have learned a ton about Copperbands, my 1 year old knew copperband species by name. Anyway, if you are having problems with a copperband, let me know.

Thanks for looking. I will list corals I have that are in a frag-"able" stage if anyone is interested in trading in the near future.

Fish Inhabitants
Powder Blue Tang
Purple Tang
Hippo Tang
Scribbled Rabbit
Flame Hawkfish
Mystery Wrasse
6 Bartlett Anthias
2 Lyretail Anthias (willing to trade if I can catch them - I just like Bartlett's better)
2 Picasso Clowns
2 Helfrichi Firefish

I will list SPS later today.

awesome! I am still deciding if I should add a copperband to the 350. Does yours pick on anything? I'd love to get a piece of that blue milli.

My copperband picks at aiptasia, worms and majanos. If anybody has rock loaded with aiptasia, my copperband will clean it up for you. xcorallusx, let me know what you have and I can trade you some blue milli and other SPS if you desire.

Thanks for getting me into trouble with your wife, I would love to get a bunch more peple into trouble if that is the result. Great job Eugene. Did you break down the nano?

I used to have some peppermint shrimp in my tank and never had a problem with aiptasia and I also noticed a few majanos on some rocks that I have corals on, so I may have to get a copperband, I am just worried he will take out some of my other corals.

He has not touched my clams or corals. Although the only non-SPS I have are zoanthids and acans.

Actually Ade, could you get into trouble with my wife? I've got a 230 in the basement waiting to be plumbed into the system. It's on hold waiting for approval.

Tank looks awesome Eugene.

Looks good Eugene!!

That tank has really made it's way around the club. I'll have to see if I have any old pictures of it when it resided in my living room.

Actually landen I am looking to pass this on again in he near future. I am looking to get a custom tank with built in overflows once our basement is finished. We postponed the project this winter because my wife enjoyed having the kids ride their bikes and trikes in the basement. It is a deep tank but I have. 4 inch sandbed to make it a bit easier to scape.

Hope you still have some of the corals I gave ya, Im gonna start up a cube in a few months!!!! BTW TANK LOOKS GREAT !!!!

Not to worry, the corals that you gave me are beginning to color up. The corals and equipment I bought from are all okay too. I believe the majority of your stuff went to somebody else with the fish. I am not sure how those corals and fish are doing.

Looking good :fish2:

Hey I am getting ready to set up my 45 can I have some of those corals as well ;-) JK

I am really digging that Shades of Fall acro, where did you score that one from? How are you keeping the Copperband from eating your corals? Your tank is looking good

The Shades of Fall is a frag from a local reefer. It did not have the same color in his tank unless you looked from the top. The copperband just has never picked at polyps much less corals. He eats blackworms, mysis, PE mysis, brine, homemade food, Rod's and Rogger's. He is going on 6 months now!
