My wife bought me a pair of Black Ice Clowns. I really like the markings. They are about 1.5-2".

They are not both black ice, but make a gorgeous pair! The female is a snow onyx and male is black ice. I am 100% sure of that.

Still too small for the dark coloring, they take a bit to "color up". My black ice came in almost 2 inch without any sign of black, but now it's turning, and oddly enough my regular snowflake is now also getting dark, he came in much smaller, about an inch and also just orange.
Eta just noticed what you wrote about them being snow onyx, and then looked at the eyes, I'd have to agree.

I think that I will take the experts opinion at Diver's Den. It could be my photo skills that are the issue.

I agree. Female has 10 dorsal spines, male has 11. Count could be off though because dorsal fins are erected fully enough to count for sure.
