My blue carpet tentacles are fading away.

I have a very large blue carpet. He stays nice and large, but is not showing a lot of tentacles. Just not fluffy like he used to be. I did put one of those white and read anemone crabs in it. Also recently put in a pair of skunk clowns. I feed him once a week with silver sides. I'm worried! What am I doing wrong?

Before.

From what I've read on the forums here many people have had issues feeding their anemones with silversides. I don't think it is a 100% proven thing but there have been quite a few mentions of it and enough of them to pose at least some concern.

There is also the debate of whether or not they need to be fed which isn't what this thread is about. If you do want to keep on feeding him go buy some raw (uncooked) shrimp from your local supermarket and feed it those.

For now I'd just leave it completely alone for awhile and see what happens. It has definitely lost a lot of tentacles and that isn't a good sign. What does the mouth look like? It is tightly closed or open?

Just a thought but have you observed the clowns nipping at it at all?

Beautiful carpet BTW. I hope it makes a full recovery.

The mouth is not tightly closed. What does that indicate? As far as the clowns, I just got the pair a week ago. Thought they might help liven it up.

An open mouth typically indicates that it is stressed out which could be from your lighting, water parameters, flow in tank, etc.

How open is the mouth? Could you give us a little more info on your setup?
