YEAH!! I was pretty excited when I saw my first stripe.

Yeah i have to admit i was pretty stoked as well, it made all the counting & feeding of rot's, splitting phyto, frustration & failure etc. etc. seem to just fade away.

I had eggs hatch last night in the main tank i did not have another empty 5g tank around so i just let them hatch.:(

I pulled out a 15g tank that i had used to make my first sump with this morning; and have started trying to think of ways of putting it to use. I am thinking of adding 2 acrylic dividers to the tank and making (3) 5g compartments. For raising larvae.

It would be easy to split an airline for aeration to each section but i am having a problem coming up with a way to heat each one, i really would like to come up with a way to not have to place a heater in each section though could something like this be done or is it not possible?

Congrats on seeing it transition from fry to an actual baby clownfish. Please keep posting pictures so we can see what you are seeing.

Thanks; for some reason i have not been able to get a good picture of them this time around all of the one's i have taken are blurry or are so far away from the larvae that you can't really tell much from the picture. I need to try and get some decent ones to post up.

Ok finally got some pictures that are not to bad. Here are my 17 day old little critters:D

They look awesome. Those specks in the water, is that your rots?

Thanks; Probably some rotifers in the picture although i have not added any to the tank in at least a week if not longer but there are still some around, i have still been adding IA every other day to keep them off the sides of the tank and ensure that they are out hunting.

In the picture i was feeding bbs to them so that's what you see.

Sweet ! Looking good. We knew you would do it. What day did you start feeding them BBS ?

Thanks; I sure would not have gotten this far without all of you guys helping me out along the way. I started offering the bbs the morning of day 6.

Currently i have been feeding them a small pinch of otohime A in the morning & evening & adding bbs to the tank when i can.

Is that an ok diet for now?

Do i need to offer anything else and if so what/when?

Nope. Sounds good. Keep feeding them BBS until 30-45 days old. My older clowns (60+ days) eat just otohime C1 & C2. The younger one eat BBS and otohime B2. They really like it.

So how often do you do water changes ?

A question about sponge filters? I went to add one to the larvae tank finally last night but the water level for the tank was below the riser tube i think it's called.

I have never used one of these things; the sponge filter is a yellow sponge and the riser tube has a connection for the airline tubing. I have been dripping water into the tank since last night to raise the water level above the top of the tube is that how they are supposed to be setup? I have had the sponge filter in my sump for a couple of weeks now.

I just hope that none of them get trapped around the sides of it, it's pretty big for a 5g tank.

Thanks for the info; i might have to adjust the time though do to my perc's are slower to develop than what you guys are raising.

I started doing wc's on day 3 and have been removing 1g at a time. This time around i used just under a 1/4 tsp. of Cloram-X for each 1g of water i replaced via dripping into the larvae tank. I tried my best to do the wc's every other day sometimes 2 days in between, may have been a bit of overkill but i never had the ammonia issue in the tank like last time around so i plan to do the same in the future.

I think the sponge filter (when i get it set-up correctly) will help expand the time between wc's.

I still have rot's in the tank as well, and have been adding a bit of IA still to the tank to keep them off the sides.

I still have the tank wrapped in plastic as well, i think i can remove that now though?

Mine are small triangle sponge filters made by I think Jungle. I cut the riser tube in half, so I didn't have to have my 5 gallon tanks too full. Just keep a steady flow of bubbles coming out of the riser tube. Not to strong. As the babies get bigger you can increase the air flow. One of my fry actually live in the space between the riser tube and the fitting on the sponge. So I won't worry about it.

lol, i just got done looking back over your thread & videos; because i thought you had a video posted that showed a sponge filter in action (i found it) just to make sure i was setting mine up correctly.

Cutting the riser tube in half now why didn't i think of that
I will do that today and that way i don't have to fill up the tank to the top. My larvae are still pretty small but "rkelman"
even stated that perc's are waaaaay slower to develop than others. So i have just been nervous about adding anything to the tank.

I like the photos of the little ones; I think they have your eyes.

:) any updates on how yours are doing?

well i have to say that the heater in the bbs hatcheries has made a big difference; not only has it sped up the time for hatching but it seems to have helped with the percentage of the hatching as well. Over the weekend i was able to get a hatching time of around 15-16 hours which is working out nicely as the larvae are eating them like crazy.

I found a smaller sponge filter at my lfs on Friday it's round instead of the triangle and fits better in the tank; so instead of using the one that was seasoned i just went ahead and added this one, i did cut the riser tube in half and have it gently bubbling in one corner of the tank.

I do have a question on something that i observed over the weekend, i have noticed that the majority of the larvae are grouping together at the surface of the water in the corners of the tank, they appear to take turns head bobbing and stay like that all day long is this a normal behavior?? I added more IA then normal to green up the water to see what would happen but they did not move away from their groups at all??

My tank that has about 200 or so in it does exactly the same thing. They huddle into a ball and are about the size of a softball. They do not seperate too often and if they do I end up with two baseballs. It is very funny to watch.
