Nonono its still your fault :)

LOL! well it was worth a try.

I checked out the badge and it seems to work just fine, so back to the drawing board as to what happened with the last batch, although i am leaning towards a rotifer shortage as part of the problem.

do you think you might have had to much air going on the tile that could have drown are beat the ones up that were dead on the bottom while hatching. I had that happen before cause i use a little rio powerhead and i made a little basket to cover it and i had a little to much flow on the rock. now i face the powerhead blowing against the glass and it kinda makes the eggs swirl

It certainly could be possible, but if i don't have enough air they die on the tile (turn white & never hatch) so i still need to find the sweet spot possibly. The reason i went with more air than normal this time around is due to what happens in my reef; when i do not harvest the eggs they all hatch on one night period, no exceptions, i have had many times where they have taken 2 days to hatch from the tile in the 5g tank. The success rate for me goes down on the 2nd day.

I believe that my male helps them to hatch out and that is why i do not see the issue of 2 days hatching time in the reef. I don't think it's temp. related although i do keep the 5g tank at 82 deg. and my reef this time of year is around 80 deg. at the end of the light cycle.
The eggs while in my reef are always in constant motion either from the male fanning them or the 2 Tunze 6101 that move the water around as well.

understood; i just was not familiar with the word glom, guess you do learn something new here every day.:D

I thought it meant (g)ood (l)ooking (o)ut (m)an, but just didnt understand melev's usage... Yes appearently you DO learn someting new everyday!

So it appears that the ups & downs continue; Last night i pulled the tile from my tank (10th day again). This time i decided to just place the tile in the 5g tank and not mess around with the water parameters at all. Which means i did not add any rot's or rd to the tank. I just placed the tile in there set the bubbles and checked the tank this morning. Good news 100% hatch, Bad news the same outcome some swimmers but the number of dead white ones on the bottom of the tank outnumber the swimmers again.

This morning i added some rot's and some rd to green up the water.
Not sure what i am doing wrong; even though i did not add rot's last night since the light was off for hatching they are not going to be actively feeding anyway's so i think i can still rule out that they did not starve that fast.

Sounds like the same problems I have been having. Which I could give you a couple of suggestions.

I'm sorry i don't remember but how long have this pair been spawning? My survival rate has skyrocketed since they first started breeding with very little help from me. It may just work itself out is my point.

Don't have my exact notes in front of me at the office but i would guess and say a year now maybe just a bit longer.

If i can get past the die-off that seems to be happening over the hatch night my #'s to work with would go up by a bunch.

Well lost another batch at day 5. I think it was due to the rotifer shortage and i was a day late trying to substitute with bbs. Oh well guess i need to place another order and recharge my rotifer cultures and go from there.

Yes, that sucks. It's hard to breed fish as a hobby with all the things that have to be in place at the exact time and a majority of your time being spent on other things. Not a lot of forgiveness if everything isn't just right.

At least you've got a great attitude about the whole thing.

Man Chris, sorry to hear of your continued poor luck!

Thanks i really think this last batch was my fault, my rotifer cultures have been hurting as of late and i was busy doing other things. Placed an order with reed yesterday for some more rot's which will be here tomorrow, and i should have another batch ready to hatch this Saturday so i can try yet again.
