My build.

Hey guys,

A few have asked how my build was coming along so just wanted to share some photo's. It took me a few months to complete due to dad duties but I think it's pretty much done. Just need to clean up the wiring and add a tablet display.

If anyone needs to borrow any equipment for a stand build, i.e.. miter saw, jig saw, sander, glue or even clamps, let me know.

Thanks! It's an ADA 120P. I drilled it and added an overflow from a Cadlight Artisan II.

It's a 65g, 48x18x18. Is yours a 75g? Looking good! I like that shallow look.

Nice! Mines is a 80. Sinilar size to yours - 48x24x18. Looking forward to seeing updates pics of your build!

Wow! Excellent cabinet, I love the clean black stand that is the same footprint as the tank along with the rimless open tank. It looks like a Red Sea tank but I have to imagine it's only a fraction of the cost.

If I upgrade I hope my setup looks like yours, I really dislike the garish, overdone stands or hood or built into wall type tanks. This setup just looks like a few square feet of reef was transported into your house.

Have you thought about painting the back or you like it as is?

Hey Ghost25, thanks! I actually have a black tint background that I haven't put on yet. I wanted to give a clear back a chance. So far i enjoy the really clean look but waiting to see how much algae accumulates. If it's too much maintenance, I'll just slap on the background.

Just my opinion. Black backround would hide those wires, light post, and shadow line. Be a more infinite look.

Agree 100% danreefman, the black back will just hide everything better. Maybe Ill slap it on if I have time later.

What did you line the inside of the stand with? Looks to be some kind of gray plastic material? Also, is that bare bottom or are you using starboard?

I primed the stand with Kilz and layered the inside with black fridge paint, outside with semigloss black rustoleum. I also used black silicone to fill all the gaps inside (not the entire inside, just the bottom half of the stand). For the grey you see, I had a yoga mat laying around so i just used that as the bottom floorboard.
