I just ordered my CadLight 22g nano. After a few informative phone calls to them, I recieved the best customer service I have yet to get from any other company. They assured me what I am buying is top notch, they answered my "what-ifs", they explained everything in great detail to me and were more than helpful.

I was surprised to find out that they will be opening a new location here in southern california, in Ontario.

This is the beginning of my long awaited progress thread! Just in time for Reef-a-palooza. I will be picking up some more equipment there! To bad the tank wont be ready to add anything :-( wish I were able to pick up some frags. I dont know anyone out here either that would hold them for me until my tank was cycled. Hopefully that will change by the time the convention starts!

The tank arrives on Monday very speedy shipping.
Here is what it all includes (straight from their website):
22 gallon nano tank the dimensions are: 23.75"length x 14.25"width x 14.5" height.

For the jawfish you would need a DEEP sandbed, and these tanks with a DSB dont look good. Id get a cool goby instead, like a fireprawn or a yasha

I've been thinking about doing an artificial burrow made out of PVC so that I wouldn't have to make such a deep sand bed for the jawfish, thst is if I go with it...flaming prawn would be a great choice those two fish are what i've been debating on.

Haha while he lives under my roof, he'll live with the room I give him, unless that is he would like to start paying rent ;) juuuust kidding

Ontario, CA - not canada right-LOL! If thats the case then I'm happy because shipping from new york is pricy.

Eddie at Cadlights is the best! You'll love that tank!

Yup, he told me Ontario here in southern California...I know right shipping was 40, the total cost for my tank set up today was $340...but I didn't want to wait till November to buy my tank from their California location. The $299 dealon this 22g with the light fixture is only going for a couple more weeks, until the end of October.

haha i know, and i am moving at the end of december to my new place in La Verne, CA annnnd i dont know whether i should set the tank up now and then move it, or just wait till then to set it up. Which I really dont want to do. But my thought is that the tank is so small, maybe i can just set it up here and get it cycled and add the LR but not a lot else...that way I at least have something to play with...thoughts?:hammer:

If you just do bare bottom and have some LR in once its time to move it will be simple and clean.

It would only be temporary until you finally settle down, then you can put sand til your heart is content. I just say avoid sand because of the move, you will stir up alot of junk in the sand with the move and when you put the pumps on you will have sand everywhere.

Ya that's a good idea an if I like the BB then I'll just keep it that way! All I'm going to put in to start is egg crate and LR then. I'm excited

Bare bottom would be fine just make sure you have enough live rock in the display for denitrification. You 'll have the fuge in there to help with nutrients so you should be able to keep a nice stable system. I personally don't care for the BB because it just looks a bit unnatural for my tastes but the nice thing is if you don't like it you can always add sand!

Space your eggcrate off the bottom slightly or else it will become a detritus trap with out a living sand bed.

Just my experience!

Have fun

ok thanks for the advice. honestly i will probably only be keeping it barebottom until my move. but this way i can get it cycled and let the rock collect some good coraline, maybe add a few corals before i move and once i get there, just drop in the sand in small incriments so as not to make another large cycle.

sounds good!

well here is a proposition for you...my tank will still be cycling, for a few weeks after RAP, and i also want to pick up some frags...what i was thinking is that since you cant go but i can, if you tell me what you want i could pick a couple up for you and you can just pay me back when you get home, and then in turn maybe you can hold a few of mine for me till the cycle is over. think this could work? I'll be going saturday.

ps. i just go back from new york last month, had a good time.
