My Chameleon Acro

I've had this acro forever - its indestructible. It came from Patrick Monaghan (sp?) and he sold it as a "Tizardi". I have no idea what it really is. Anyway, its had several return trips to hell and back - lived in a dozen tanks, been thru diseases, crashes, everything. Thing won't die.

It has been deep blue, purple, powder blue, a couple shades of green - and poo poo brown. But lately I've noticed its showing different colors. But its not just like the colors grade into each other - the are splotchy! Anyway, here are the pix - I thought it was cool - it looks grafted almost. I've spread this coral out to LOTS of people over the years, I wonder if this happened t anyone else?

I wish I could get better pictures - but these kinda show what I mean. Its much more pronounced in person

Here he was in a past life, and the green splotches - he's also been that color - solid.

Maybe nothing interesting, but I thought it was kinda cool. :)

Hey David that look like it was shaded and brown out on the underside but the main color I guest is green and blue

damn that isnt half bad looking... i like how it has that swirled green into the purple in the first pic. if you frag it up hit me up i wouldnt mind having some of that... ;)

Hey Anthony - its strange though, there isn't much rhyme or reason to where the color is. The green is even on the underside. I love the coral - I've just never seen a coral (or this one) change like this - usually its one color and slowly fades to other colors.

The funny part is that a month ago it was brown. And two colors are fighting - the powder blue and the bright green. They both appeared pretty quick, as soon as I got it out of the death tank, but now they're fighting for room on the same coral. Strange.

Anyhow, probably just cool to me but I wanted to share. :)

Well, in all likelihood he'll just end up being a solid color - cool while it lasts tho. :) Since I'm an OCD reefer who can never decide what equipment/tank I want - here he is in his most common form. Poopoo brown.

I have something similar but mine will consist of jade green body and blueish tip. The underside is a little brownish.

Fliger- That looks a lot like a piece that was distributed a few years back either as the Paletta tizardi or Tubs' powder blue stag from exoticreefs. I think those pieces are the same after seeing them in person more than a few times. It sure is a sweet coloration in your tank.

Dave - the frag you gave me is now more green with baby blue tips. Now that you mention it it does have a purplish tint right below the tips. I'll attest this is one hardy coral.

Mark I think you got it - it might be the Tubs powder blue. I just looked at a few and they all look like this coral at different times and under different lighting. Funny I got all the colors at the same time. Most telling tho is tfp's catalog of corals on frags.org - it definitely looks like that. I also creates little bushes/mini-colonies on the tips every once in a while. Kinda cool cuz I can break off a tip and its a mini-colony in a month.

Funny reeferpnoy - dude lets do a trade. You have some stuff I want .... ;) Did anything else you got from me make it? I don't even remember.
