This is such a failure

I have a 130gallon holdup volume split between 5 year old 55gal and a 30gal tank and 45gallon plenum sump. ABout 6weeks ago I posted about my fish dieing off. All 10 fish and crustacea died off one after another. I tried dosing with copper for the last three fish but with no effect. Every form of life except algae has died off. All worms, crustacia even apatasia have gone.
I waited a further 6 weeks and 5 changes of carbon and 50% water change. Today, I introduced 3 green Chromis, after verifying NH3, NO4, PO4, pH, salinity, temperature, KH. They died within 4 hours.
I am at a loss for what to test for. It seems it must be a chemical toxicity issue. Do you agree?
I would really like to trace to the cause as I don't want to take out all the substrate from teh plenum and tanks and rebuild not knowing what the cause might be.
Any ideas or opinions based on similar experience would be welcomed.
