Actually its my mixed reef with lots of clams -12 of them. I don't usually post in this forum, but I want to see if you guys also keep alot of clams in one tank. Some of my clams will out grow this one so I am thinking about what to do with them too later, but here is some info and pics. enjoy.

Tank-
4x2x2 120g tenecor tank.- dual overflow -small sump with a- iwaki return pump returns 3 pipes into the tank.

1 vortec pump for additional flow.

Lighting-
36" aquamedic dual 250 20k HQI with dual 39watt T5 little and
36" sunpod Dual 150 20k HQI lighting ( I think the side tank pics is one with only 1 light on)
3 coralife 1 watt moonlights that i leave on all day long.

Filtration-
No Skimmer (for past 9 months)- No filter sock - filtration is maintained by 5 gallon water changes once a week, 1 small bag of carbon, and 12 clams ( 2 gigas, 2 squamies, 2 hippos, 1 crocea, 5 deresas of different sizes.....lost my 2 maxima's )
Lots of live rock and a shallow sand bed.

Additional-
I dose lime water twice a week ( 5 gallons drip in) and sometime some iodine
A small fan to maintain temp
a Calcium Reactor
No Heater, No refug. No Cheato, that's it ....pretty simple setup

your gonna run outta room very quickly! 2 gigas, 2 squammies, and 5 derasas in a 120??!!

Personally, I like the look of clams in the sand, but not exclusively. I would move the croceas and hippopus up to the rockwork. It'll look more natural, they'll get more light. win/win situation. I guess I do see one crocea in the rocks.

Nice clams and tank, though.

Thanks everyone....I agree I will run out of space soon. I may move the hippos up on the rock, but they never seem to attach so its hard for me to find a level space for them. So do you guys keep alot of clams too, or just a few per tank.

The reason I have 2 gigas is that I bought from different places almost 2 years ago...one wasn't looking so hot and they were about $30 at the time. Well both made it and have grown quite well.

The deresa were really hard to find for a while so I bought a few small ones that all survived. The only ones that I seem to have a problem keeping them alive more than 6 months is maximas.

Oh well.

most from lfs. 1 came from Dr Mac. 1 from Clams Direct. we are lucky in the SF Bay area...lots of good stores around.

I personally want to put a good amount of clams in my tank.
I have a 60 gallon though, so gigas is out of the question.
I have a taken a likeing to the Croceas, and occasional Maxima.
Heres a shot of one side of my tank.

5 in 24g how long did that last? did you notice if the clams helped you with filtration? I think mine do in my 120.

i still have 2 of my clams. i lost 3 because of a tank crash, not because of the size of the tank. (was away for over a week) i was on top of water params everyday

No heater?!?! Cant belive that one unelss its in a climate controlled room or something like that. Also, what is the point of the sump if you dont run a skimmer or any macro in the tank, just for the calcium additions?
